Big storm here....we had 9 inches at 5:30 am, all dumped on us last night and it is still snowing. Who else is getting pounded?

Hi Tribs & Tom! Just started freezing rain here, & it's supposed to be very ugly just in time for the commute home! We aren't supposed to get any snow, tho.

The majority of the schools are closed around here, including my university. Wes' boss cancelled work too. The county plow finally came through our neighborhood a few minutes ago for the first time.

Tom....I like your idea. If I don't see it, it ain't there!

Yes, Cynde but it's 44 degrees there also. I check that cam every morning for the sunrise over LA from the Landing Cam. Some mornings there is a crowd watching the sunrise, probably doing Tai Chi, drinking starbucks and smoking pot, typical left coasters. Now right coasters would not be exercising but would be drinking D squared coffee and having a cigarette.

While we are waiting on the white $h1t.

She was in the bathroom, putting on her makeup, under the watchful eyes of her young granddaughter as she'd done many times before. After she applied her lipstick and started to leave, the little one said, 'But Gramma, you forgot to kiss the toilet paper good-bye!'

#####

My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, '62.' He was quiet for a moment, and then he asked, 'Did you start at 1?'

#####

After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. Finally, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings. As she left the room, she heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice, 'Who was THAT?'

#####

A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like: 'We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony We picked wild raspberries in the woods.' The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this all in. At last she said, 'I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!'

#####

My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, 'Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?' I mentally polished my halo while I asked, 'No, how are we alike?' 'You're both old,' he replied.

#####

A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather's word processor. She told him she was writing a story. 'What's it about?' he
asked. 'I don't know,' she replied. 'I can't read.'

#####

I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me and was always correct. It was fun for me, so I continued. At last she headed for the door, saying sagely, 'Grandma, I think you should try to figure out some of these yourself!'

#####

When my grandson Billy and I entered our vacation cabin, we kept the lights off until we were inside to keep from attracting pesky insects.
Still, a few fireflies followed us in. Noticing them before I did, Billy whispered, 'It's no use, Grandpa. The mosquitoes are coming after us with flashlights.'

#####

When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, 'I'm not sure.' 'Look in your underwear, Grandpa,' he advised. 'mine says I'm four to six.'

#####

A second grader came home from school and said to her grandmother, 'Grandma, guess what? We learned how to make babies today' The grandmother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool. 'That's interesting,' she said, 'how do you make babies?' 'It's simple,' replied the girl. 'You just change 'y' to 'i' and add 'es'.'

#####

Children's Logic: 'Give me a sentence about a public servant,' said a teacher. The small boy wrote: 'The fireman came down the ladder pregnant.' The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. 'Don't you know what pregnant means?' she asked. 'Sure,' said the young boy confidently. 'It means carrying a child.'

#####

A nursery school teacher was delivering a station wagon full of kids home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog's duties. 'They use him to keep crowds back,' said one child. 'No,' said another, 'he's just for good luck.'
A third child brought the argument to a close. 'They use the dogs,' she said firmly, 'to find the fire hydrants.'

Three quarterbacks – Peyton Manning, Tony Romo, and Tom Brady -- go to Heaven to visit God and watch a Monday Night game. God decides who will sit next to him by asking them each the same question.

God asks Manning first: “What do you believe?”

Peyton thinks long and hard, looks God in the eye, and says, “I believe in hard work, and in staying true to family and friends. I believe in giving. I was lucky, but I always tried to do right by my fans.”

God can't help but see the essential goodness of Manning, and offers him a seat to his left.

Then God turns to Tony Romo and says, “What do you believe?”

Tony says, “I believe passion, discipline, courage, and honor are the fundamentals of life. I, too, have been lucky, but win or lose, I've always tried to be a true sportsman, both on and off the playing field.”

God is greatly moved by Tony's sincere eloquence, and he offers him a seat to hi s right.

Finally, God turns to Tom Brady. “And you, Tom, what do you believe?”

Tom replies, “I believe you're in my seat.

Just heard on the local news that a dude ran over himself while stealing a car.
Apparently he tried to run from the car while it was still moving and ran over himself. He was released from the hospital to jail. Police found 5 stolen rifles in the trunk of the stolen vehicle. What a schmuck!! Glad he's off the street - hopefully he's unable to procreate!

Put that flash message in the "No $h1t Sherlock" bin. Man, I've seen rougher ice at the garden after the zamboni. Talk about the fear of God at 25 MPH. I would rather drive in sn0w any day.

Two funny stories from the recent storms. Today as I was creeping through Nashua I got to witness a little human drama. I saw this old car down on the far side of a ditch, obviously the young driver had slide off the road. Well he got a running start and up the hill he went toward the highway, he almost had enough momentum to jump the snow bank but not quite. He ended up suspended with the front wheel dangling over the road. The last I saw of him is that he got the car back off the snow bank and was making another run at it.

A couple of weeks back after a big storm I was again going through Nashua and a car entered the highway from the right. The car was covered in snow and it was blowing off the car like a smoke screen. I'm thinking what a lazy inconsiderate jerk. It turned out to be a young person.

The next car in line was cleaned off perfectly and an old person was driving and I'm thinking (at the young person) why can't you learn from your elders. As I got closer there on the trunk of the old guy's car was his snow brush,

In Northern NJ we had freezing rain all morning...I have already received 12 new workers compensation claims involving our employees (County government) who all slipped on ice and fell. Most of them were in two main locations we run (nursing home and college campus) and were getting out of their cars within the designated parking area lots.

I know I will see more by Monday morning....those folks who slipped on the ice but did not yet report it as they thought the could "shake it off" (injuries) and felt the pain the next day and now want medical attention.

If I had one dollar for every time employees have said to me they did not report an incident at work because they "thought they could shake it off" I would be retired and living on Bonaire already. Some folks don't listen and others don't seem to learn.

Hope everyone is safe in our areas. Heavy rain is now falling and flood advisory in effect. Beats snow tho! LOL.

Freezing rain (for those who live in the "warmer" climates occurs when the air temp (higher level) is warm and rains and the ground/surface and air temps are colder the rain freezes to the surfaces upon impact causing treacherous conditions. Folks all thought it was just "wet" from rain as it "feels" like rain when it hits you or the car....BUT it freezes on the ground surfaces or other cold surfaces. Ugly stuff. Snow is easier to deal with....at least they can plow it and you can see it on the ground. cb

If that fat b*stard, Phil, sees his shadow; shoot him! ROFLMAO!!!!!!!KIV, that was hysterical. Imagine a movie called Ground Hog Day II, where a woman from Virginia is trying to grease Phil the Ground Hog up in Paxutaney, PA. A guy from Massachusetts finds out about the plot, and saves Phil from his demise. As he was reading messages, with his secret eye enhancers, a scuba mask with reading glasses, he discovers all this. It could be good my friends, real good.

Kobi I don't think so. I was in the fox cage today and they are starting to shed out. This is early for them. Also, momma squirrel moved into her birthing house - one month early! And, the opossum living in my yard is up and about. I don't know what Mother Nature is doing, but we could be in for an interesting spring.

(So while I'm talking animals, Wes and I were looking out at the yard today and a Coopers Hawk swooped down and snatched a sparrow. It was awesome!)

We got more of the white s#*%, too. It snowed all day here (lightly) and though it was pretty, it's getting a bit OLD!

Every time I get my (rather spacious) driveway plowed out by the neighbor (for a fairly good price, but worth not having to do it myself) it #@%$#^ snows again!!! GrrrrrrrrrGRRRR

Ah well, at least it isn't -10F with a nasty wind chill like last week.
