Good Morning...the thread title is to remind myself mostly that it's about eating healthy and not just about counting points...making sure I use my points for veggies, fruits, etc...and not just fitting in as many low-point "junk foods" as I can....

But an occasional treat is A-Ok, too...because I KNOW the deprived feeling only causes "rebound" eating and thus, "rebound" weight gain.

Ok...so I'm in a serious, somber mood this morning....sorry...
GO TEAM *** YOU CAN DO IT *** Is that better?! :-)
I hope everyone has a very happy, very healthy day!!

I will send you a hug then Donna! hug

There have been moments where I just wanted to eat my kid's lunch LOL! I am so jealous of the boys who just eat and have no fat on them LOL! I tell myself that this is worth it, I will look great for the summer :-).

I have been a good influence on my mom, she is trying again to lose weight. :-)

Hi Eileen! I needed that hug, thanks!!

Part of my diet problem, besides loving food and hating stress...is that the nurse I work with complains about her weight but she eats junk food continually and is NOT fat. It's really annoying!!

My scale did go back down a lb. today, but it had been up one for a few days (even though I was being good)...I decided I had taken my "eyes off the goal" of not just weight loss, but HEALTH...so I'm trying to focus on the healthy again! :

Donna
Here is a hug from me. One of the things I started yesterday was a food diary that is actually a chart with the food pyramid on it and breaks it down for me to mark off as I have the different food groups. Another thing I am eating I am keeping track of calories so I can see how much I have left as I go along. Yes it is alot of work but it is keeping on track.
One thing I am changing in my diet is looking on food labels and watching the sodium in products. On world news tonight they had a thing about two weeks ago is the sodium content in foods and how the government is now thinking that might have to do with high blood pressure and obesity.
So yesterday when I was in grocery store looked at soups and some food manufactures are offering lower sodium soups I could not believe that one can had 950mg of sodium.
My hardest thing is getting in the water that you should drink. Plus I actually do better when I am home but when at work get busy and don't do it plus I don't keep up with the every four hour thing either and eating lunch like I should.
But Donna one thing my dr told me was to through out the scale and only weigh in once a week if that. Because the scale can affect your behavior by if it goes up makes you upset and if goes down then you might not do as good because when you think I have been good I will reward myself with maybe not as healthy to eat or might not exercise like I should.

Buenos Dias and Hugs to Everyone :-) :-)

Made it to the chiropractor yesterday morning and asked to check my BP - it was 150/85 - so I was happy that it went down compare to Friday. Have an appointment tomorrow @ 8 am for my physical. Also went to herbalist in the afternoon to get a reading of my eye, I have done this before, so I am taking supplements for stress and blood pressure.

Thanks guys and I'll let you know how everything goes.

ScubaBanker, good to see you again!

Donna. hug Don't be jealous of your nurse friend for being able to eat whatever she likes without getting fat. I am not fat by any means (heavy for me at 9st.) I have always been thin, and used to eat anything that I fancied, resulting in high cholesterol. Being thin doesn't always mean you are healthy.

Hide those scales girl and don't use them so often. Think positive. You can do this.

Good luck to all of you and for your own sake, do not dwell on the moments you are depressed about, such as eating that extra tidbit. Though I have played on your threads, it is all meant in jest. I am very proud of you folks for your commitment to improve your health.

Time for me to come clean. I have been trying hard to stay off of smokes again - doing great for up to weeks at a time, smoking like a chimney on other days. I relapsed after months of not smoking (I suffered no withdrawal symptoms either.) when doctors told me treatment I have been going through was no longer working. Fortunately, test just after Thanksgiving proved them wrong:-) Nonetheless, I used the depressing news as an EXCUSE to relapse, knowing I was setting myself up for a worse fight down the road, like now.

Fortunately also for me, I have people here at home and a few on this board that I shared with regarding my medical situation. When I was down they held me up and convinced me to focus, not on what I had lost or was losing, rather to focus on what I have left. Fortunately, today I am celebrating the start of my last month of chemotherapy, test have been consistently clean since November 30th.

The most important thing you or I have each day is hope. Keep up the good work, a lot of us are pulling for you.

If time becomes your enemy put your hand on this one and know we are here for you:
You are not alone!

Hugs, T

First of all...BIG HUGS to TOM ! And healing vibes coming your way.

Donna, I really appreciate your diet threads. I've been lurking most days and FINALLY started back on the point system a couple of days ago. I also did 30 minutes on the treadmill on Sunday. So the result today is ... a GAIN of 2.5 pounds. :-( My problem is I already drink lots of water but don't usually eat enough. I work at home and have a hard time taking time to sit down to eat. A joke around here is if we want hotel guests to arrive, we sit down to dinner. I'm constantly interrupted.

I'm also a scale watcher. It's great advise to only weigh once a week but that doesn't work with me. ...I'm addicted to the scale. I'm working on it, though!

Anyway, I'm back on Points and a journal. I shoveled snow this morning for 45 minutes and brushed snow off 20 cars/trucks. So keep these threads going...I'm here lurking. :-) :-)

Big Hugs, Tom, and also to all who are struggling with any personal issues. I swear smoking is the hardest addiction I watched anyone try to beat. John still struggles, but I no longer nag. The grandkids nag, now, so I'll just wait and see if the cuteness factor gets further than me.

Keep up the hard work everyone. You just may get me inspired to jump on the band wagon myself! I want to lose 20 lbs...... but I still want it to be painless! :-)

Morning!
Tom, ditto to what RosAnne said.... where is my hanky??? You're a Great Man!

Can I just add my two cents here.... exercise (even a little bit) can make a HUGE difference in your waistline, health and attitude. Debbie said it last week and it is true, true, true.... a little bit of weight lifting (doesn't have to be heavy weights) will boost your metabolism and get you off that plateau. A 15-20 min walk, where ever you can find, will get your endorphines going and boost your attitude :-)

I've never been thin - probably never will be. I was always the chubby kid and the teenager who heard, "If you just lost 10 pounds you'd be so cute":-( (NEVER say that to anyone, btw. No matter how well-meant it's a horrible thing to say to someone). But, I can tell you that I'm probably healthier than most people, thin or not.

Grab some light weights (or canned food) and try lifting for 15-30 mins a few days a week - I'm betting you'll feel better :-)

I have a few bad habits -- love my wine, cocktails, red meat, potatoes and BIG portions! :-) We all have demons - this thread gives us the tools and support to fight them!

KerPlunk!!! --- that's me jumping off my soapbox (or better yet my workout steps :-))
Have a great day everyone!!
Big Huge Hugs to Whomever would like one or two!!!

Tom, hang in there buddy! I still have that song you emailed me a while ago with my little demons. :-)

O.K., today, I feel like going into hibernation, dang nabit! Haven't been able to get warm now for days, Gregg is telling me I should see a doctor, my blood is too thin. Ya, right, I am freezing and he is sitting in a tee shirt next to me last night. I don't get that at all. My youngest son decided it would be great to give me his cold too, so got that going on, and the treadmill just doesn't seem too inviting today. Thinking what I need is a sun lamp over here, haven't seen that big old sun in days either. Better yet, I need to get to Bonaire! What ya all say? Let's go!!!!!

Let's clear one thing up right now - I am the lucky one, I have been since the day my lady first took my breath away 20 years ago this month. Yes even though the only thing Pamela brought me for lunch today was minestrone soup, I am the lucky one. Now where did I hide those vienna sausages and ring dings?

Tom, NOT THE RING DINGS!!!! Go for the Devil Dogs! One thing I miss about living on the west coast, no Drakes! And I am 100% sure that Pamela is one heck of a lady and equally as kind and caring as you! :-)

Tom - BIG Hugs for you - I'm so happy that your reports are coming back "clean" - the power of positive thinking :-) AND sticking with it!

Yum - Devil Dogs - I used to love them things! No more though - as the hub tells me - "you live in the land of NO" Drats!

Lunch today was
Soy peanut butter & sugar-free jelly on whole wheat bread & a salad w/lite dressing

Dinner tonight
Striped bass (that the hub caught in December)
Brown rice
Broccoli

Keep up the good work everyone - we're on our way to being lighter, healthier and more energetic :-) :-) :-) :-)

Donna - love this thread - thanks :-)

Sometimes we complain about so many little things in our lives that is not necessary and yes hope is one thing we cannot lose.

I am glad I found BT - we have cried, laughed, help each other - this is like a family to me.

Thanks for being there/here!!

Tom, you're a golden guy. ((((hugs)))
BT is AWESOME.
Btw, a client finally gave me back The Secret, so now I can pass it on again. :-) I do believe in positive thinking and in some ways, the universe/God giving you back what you give. Example: My brother is really down now, winter he doesn't get to get much exercise (he's very sick), and was telling me he wished he had a treadmill. I found one on sale for $125.00 and ordered it for him. Then I won $125.00 on the lottery. I scanned the winning numbers and sent it to him to show him how that worked. He loved it!

Love you guys!
