I haven't mentioned anything in a while, because things have been...ok....

My dad isn't doing good at all with his cancer. He was diagnosed last April with colon cancer and it had spread to and taken over his liver. Stage 4. They only gave him 2-3 months. Well, he's a hard-a$$ and has done GREAT!!! But they have changed his chemo several times and that has been the worst thing for him. Everytime, it makes him a little worse. Yesterday we found out his tumor marker was WAY up again, after going down to 48. Now it's almost 700. He's not feeling well at all, and doesn't know what the next step will be. They are doing another cat scan, VERY SOON, to see what is going on in him. I am very scared and don't know how to be there for them. I don't know how to handle this. My mother so extremely stressed about EVERYTHING and she doesn't know what to do. My dad is beating himself up for not having tests done years ago that would have prevented this from becoming what it is today. It's just a mess. And we don't know what to do.
So, I'm just asking for some of that BT magic that goes on around here directed to my mom and dad right now. I don't know what to do for them, and yall are the only friends I have and I needed to talk to someone, so thanks.

PegiSue, all you can do is be there for your dad. Listen to him and tell him not to beat himself up about the past choices he made not to get test done sooner. He can't change that now and he needs to stay strong to keep on fighting. I went through Cancer with my mother in law. I really do know how hard it is on them and the whole family. You want to "fix" him so he isn't suffering but you can't. It's just heartbreaking to watch someone you love go through this. Surround him with love and healing light and be there to listen when he needs to talk or just plain wants to be pi**ed off at the world. Anyone fighting Cancer has a right to go through all those emotions.

I do a lot of volunteer work with the American Cancer Society and if you haven't ever checked out www.relayforlife.org you should. There is so much support on that site. Everyone there have been through this. Either by battling Cancer or being a caregiver for someone. You are not alone!!

I will keep your family and your father in my prayers.
