Good Morning to all my diet buddies! I guess we'll have to keep the discussion over here, so as not to offend others.

Anyhow, I woke up hungry. My WW breakfast was a Portugese pancake (sweet muffin which my husband brought back from Massachusetts and is amazingly low in points!) with 1 TBSP of natural PB. Total 5 points...I have 22 for the day (plus the 35 extra for the week).

How's everyone else doing?

I sort of "cheated" with my surgery 9-7-07 but I'm down 80 so far and still plugging along. Feel so much better and healthier.

Let's all stick together on this one in 2008!!

We can do it together....strength in numbers, right>! Carole

During pg (actually all my pgs) I gained about 75lbs - our midwives have said that this is/was probably normal for me. One midwife was the same as I was. Soooooo, I have 35 more lbs to go until pre-pg weight! I have lost over 1/2 already! :-)

Ok, chicklets, we WILL do this. So far this morning it's Medifast.........again! How come I always say, again! LOL

Carole, congrats on your loss...you are doing it.

Eileen, you too! We can do this.

Donna, I'm with you PPS....we will do this with everyone's help that's motivated. We may fall or we may cheat but let's be there to hold hands and pick each other up. There really is strength in the numbers and I need to be held accountable. IT STARTS TODAY.......

This IS the first day of the rest of my life.

Wow Eileen, that's great. I NEVER lost my pg weight over the years and had a weight problem to begin with...that's how I got to be well over 200 lbs...then I went on a couple of diets and bounced up and down, I NEVER reached goal until 2 years ago with WW...now I allowed 30lbs to creep back on. My clothes don't fit. I need to get back to goal weight!! I LOVED being thin, but I also LOVE food!

Okay Ladies I'm dieting, too. That's why I've been going to those early morning aerobics and spin classes on the weekend. Dropping those pounds is getting harder the older I get (58).
The best "diet" I've found is two weeks of diving on Bon. When we go, that's pretty much all we do, and the lbs. melt.
Good luck to us all as we start the new year.
Linda

Hi Linda..exercise is a big help ...I have to find time and an outlet. In the summer, I walk alot, but here in the Pocono's in the winter, it's hard to get in between the temps and snow and ice and it gets dark too early to go my normal time (after dinner). Have to find another way.

Thanks for trying, Kaarien, you are a sweetheart, but...I sympathize with the medical issues but have alot of trouble sympathizing with the "too skinny" thing...I have been battling being a "fat" person all my life...even if I don't over-eat, I gain. I just would like to be able to enjoy normal meals like a normal person and still LOOK like a normal person.

Ok ladies, Im with you on the diet. I am going back to the WW diet. I had 10 lbs creep up on me this past couple months. I am heading to Bonaire in 17 days and my bathing suits look like crap on me. I have been getting into the sweets real bad this season, I should just throw them all out.

Bev, Just toss those sweets out. They are empty calories anyway. Just think of all the extra "good" food you could eat in place of one piece of cake.

Hi gang. My low fat diet went out the window weeks ago. Haven't found anything in that category that tastes nice. I don't need to lose weight, just the cholesterol.

If I wish to keep my weight off (the hardest part), lots of veggies and fruit. Though that is hard when one loves chocolate!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Yo MO (Supreme BonaireTalker - Post #3096) on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 - 12:27 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

Carole - that's GREAT news. I was just thinking about you as I remember last year's Holiday Season after surgery. This year's was more enjoyable but simply because my stomach has gotten used to more things and I have stopped stressing out about a bite of chocolate or a bite of sugar. I mean if it comes back, it comes back...and I don't mean the weight.

I think I'm done losing weight now but every time I say that a few weeks go by and I lose another pound or two. Lowest so far was a 135lb loss...but I'm up 1lb from that already. I don't need to lose anymore AT ALL - just tone it up so exercise and I are going to become better friends this year.

I have also REALLY started to enjoy cooking. Lots of healthier foods, lots more organic food, and am enjoying the taste of it all...well, almost all of it. I can't say much for the rutabaga I had the other day, but it wasn't stomach turning so that's a good thing.

Much more vegetarian foods and proteins, fruits, whole grains, veggies makes a much healthier and happier me.

I've gained about 20 lbs. since July, when we went to Bonaire! The food was so good there and I have just kept eating... I swear it was the Tiramisu that did me in!!! I just watched that video, and that's how George is when he looks at me. I would like to actually look like what he sees when he looks at me...does that make sense? So, girls, I'm with ya. Lots of water and coffee with splenda & low fat soy milk. That keeps me from getting hungry. But I love salads, so that part is easy... My cholesterol is too high also. So, healthy eating and somehow I'll exercise... The girl that has the shop next to me wants us to start doing yoga together. I'll go right now and talk to her about that.
New year, new life...:-)
Thanks for this and please know I'm with ya!!:-)

Well I'm with all you ladies on this one, I've gone over 100kg for the first time in my life, and I have always said that if that happened I would go on a radical fitness regime... I blame mostly on my new area managers job and being stuck behind a desk most of the time and not doing any exercise

I've tried slimfast before but I was always too hungry with it, so this time I'm just going to watch I don't eat too much and eat healthy....and do some exercise everyday. I have a Cross trainer here in my PC room which I admit has only been used about 20 times since I purchased it 4 years ago. I will be using it for at least 30 mins everyday I'm here from now on

I'm am determined to loose at least 15kgs by 7th June, which is when I go on my summer holidays - kitebuggying in Denmark

Hey, I'm glad you all brought this over to CC. It was hard for me to follow on the webcam thread.

Linda, How come you lose 10 lbs while on Bonaire and I GAIN 10 lbs? Even though I walk 3+ miles almost every morning and snorkel several times a day, I gain. Could it be the Filet with mushroom sauce? Or all the French Fries with every meal? Or is it the bread, cheese, wine? I know it must be the White Chocolate! :-) :-)

I have 2 1/2 months to lose some inches before my next trip. I'll be lurking on this thread for motivation, girls, so keep it up!

Linda, the Filet with mushroom sauce!! Followed by Tiramisu!! You eat at Donna & Giorgio's too!:-)
My downfall... NO, I DON'T BLAME DONNA FOR HAVING SUCH FABULOUS FOOD!! I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK THERE!!!!
I just have no self control with food that is SO good. I eat it all and what is left of George's!! I need to control how much I eat. Save the rest for the next day, lunch. I don't have to eat it all at one time. It's not my last supper. Well, if it is, at least it was good!! Self control, I need self control. I've done it with alcohol, I can do it with food.

Drinking lots of water helps!! Or eat ice cubes - it makes me think that I am eating, I like to snack a lot and this helps me.

Linda S, This is crazy, but when Terry and I started diving in 1999 and started going on these trips off shore, I would lose a dress size - I don't weigh myself so don't know how much I'd lose - just go by sizes. Of course we were doing 5-6 dives a day and only had time for snacking and napping.
Now we're older - we do less diving - less weight loss. At least we're still diving.
:-)

Hi. Just letting you know I'm behind you. I have managed to keep my weight off but there was a little creep over the holidays. Who can resist the rich food and sweets? Hubby, though, wants to lose 24 lbs by May. I'll pass along your good wishes and keep an eye on this board. Good luck to all of you, hang in there. My best advice is to eat a light lunch knowing you will have a healthy substantial snack (200 cal or so) before dinner. It helps get me through the 4:00 doldrums. Then a light dinner, but another good snack before bedtime. My snacks are usually 1 c of nonfat plain yogurt (sweetened with artificial sweetner) and fruit. MMMMM good. Try frozen blueberries zapped for about a minute in the microwave so they are very cold and juicy. Good! It's not tiramisu, but think how good you will look in your bathing suit eating tiramisu the next time you go to Bon.

My sister just sent me this!

After Christmas
================

'Twas the week after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.

The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste
At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).

I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,

The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."

As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt

I said to myself, as I only can
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"

So away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip

Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
"Till all the additional ounces have vanished.

I won't have a cookie - not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.

I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.

I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore
But isn't that what January is for?

Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

Hello Everyone,
I'm with you all. I've added a few lbs over the holiday and would like to see them gone before my trip to Bonaire in 11 days. I will need to work hard. I am doing WW and running on my treadmil(to much snow to be out in). While on Bonaire I will run in the morning (before it gets too hot) from the Divi to the Yacht Club and back. WE CAN DO THIS !! Thanks for begining this. I need a place to report to.

Phew!! I've survived the first session 16km in exactly one hour, 370 calories burnt off and just about managed to keep my pulse below 150.

not to sure how good that is!!!

and just for the record I was 102.5Kg at midday yesterday, I'll only do the weigh ins every 2 weeks though, my aim is to get well below 90Kgs by June!!

Evening all...still on the diet track..nibbling carrot sticks to ward off starvation before dinner...light roll/veggie burger for lunch, choc rice cake for snack. People at church this morning were doing something with cookies...I couldn't help them, because I didn't have the willpower to TOUCH a cookie and not EAT a cookie!

Well looks like day 1 went well for everyone. I've got to join in too & get some lbs. off this bod! I walk pretty much every day but now with the wind a howling & temps only in the 20's + ice patches - no way! I have gotten to feel guilty if I don't walk so have to try the same with the eating. I've been making fat-free/sugar-free chocolate jello desserts to satisfy that sweet tooth. Not bad either & I don't crave the sweets after that :-) I've cut out sugar completely and also have cut back on the quantity of food on my plate (still hungry but I'll get over it). Using smaller plates is supposed to work too AND lots & lots of water.
We CAN do this!!!!!

Good jopb on the exercise Roy. I'm going to jump on the treadmill tonight when I get home. Usually, if I don't exercise in the morning I just won't do anything but tonight -thanks to this thread I will get my heart rate going and work up a sweat while watching something on the tube.

Also, don't forget to take your vitamins my friends. That's my resolution for the month of January --- to take all of my vitamins and my thyroid meds in earnest.

I was pretty good on my diet today, got lots done too! Got all my Christmas decor down and all the tinsel and ornaments off the tree. I still have it lit tonight, maybe will let it up for a few more nights. Staying busy helps not eating so much and less time on the computer.

Tomorrow, some arobics in front of the t.v., way too cold out to walk outside now.

Ok...diet day one down...hooray...I did this for like a year and a 1/2 to lose 80 lbs...why does it seem so difficult now. I need to find a way to exercise.

Kobi, I sent you a PM.

Thanks to everyone for their diet support...guess we'll have to have a daily diet thread on CC to keep us all on track!!

Okay, 1/2 hour @ program 2 on the treadmill, done :-) :-) Thanks for being my conscience, and Roy you were my impetus!!!
Tomorrow is a no-brainer for exercise... I do 1 hour circuit training at my friend's gym every Tue&Thu 7a-8am :-) :-) She's sure to kick my butttt - especially since I'm a bit sore from yesterday's hike.

Five minutes before closing down the store tonight I got a delivery.... I had made it all through the holidays without candies, popcorn, or sweets from vendors.... not today though! A whole coffee cup full of chocolate kisses :-(

See ya'll tomorrow - and again, thanks!!

Goodnight Tara! Good job being a hamster :-) LOL!

Donna, we'll do this, chickie chick, I promise :-)
It won't be fun; it never is :-( But we have each other and everyone who who's with us....so let's keep this party going.

Day one, from Virginia: no cheat, lots o water and no exercise...I know! I s*ck! I am going to really ease myself back into that after being a softa tater for soooo long. I'm kinda scared to do it but my treadmill is sweet so I must use it. I am also blessed with a commercial equipped gym in my basement! Yep, commercial. After marrying a guy who was, and still is, SO into weight lifting, we have bought commercial equip. over the 20 years of being married. We upgrade everything often. It's in 1/2 of our finished basement. Heated, cooled and carpeted! I literally have NO excuse and membership is F.R.E.E. :-)
I promise to do better......

Donna, off to check your mail.

See you guys Thursday!!!

Can I join you Kobi? Actually I am not really allowed to do real excercise in another week and a bit. I am in dire need of doing sit ups... They never gave me that tummy tuck during the c/s.
