I will be safely at home watching movies/playing games/eating junk food with my three children and hubby until he leaves for work (midnight to 7am security, ugh!)....and I'll be on line...the only thing that could possibly change the plan is if my friend decides to invite some people over because she has been considering that, but it's doubtful...so it's junk food and soda with the family!! :-)

John is working so I'll be here as usual - Since Kira is visiting her Dad, I'll just have the little one while her folks have a few people over. It'll be me, Alex, Chaos, Cheeko, and BOB!

Yes, Bob has been here since Wednesday, but I kept him taped up in his box until today. Problem is Bob wants to go out for New Year's eve, and has no concept of caring for a 2 yr old. 'No, Bob, we can't take her to a club, and no, we can't leave her home alone.' (Repeated a dozen times) Since I'm having to hide my car keys, I'm thinking Chaos's crate may have a secondary use in the next couple of days......

Well that somebody is not me Kobi. We are staying in. Trying to save money. First, our goal is to pay off all of our bills this year because my student loans are coming due (Plus we want some cash in the bank for when the construction field slows down again). Second, I have two interesting things on the horizon... 1) My nephew might be coming to live with us. 2) I have an extended trip to Bon planned for the summer (shhh....don't tell anyone!) :-)

Well, Jeanine...those things on the horizon are good things :-) As is the getting debt free. I should put that on my '08 resolution/to do list and be more frugile. Don't think it will happen but I'm gonna try. I have two trips to BON to save/pay for.

Guess we will be having that on-line BT party...at least we have each other. Keeping expenses down is my "forced" goal these days also. I actually did quite well keeping Christmas to a minimum...and everyone was just as happy.

George got us reservations at the Grand Floridian in Orlando/Disney. We have a limo picking us up downtown, so ALL of my "neighbors" will be SO jealous! We are having dinner at The Venetian Room (5 Star), then a show...La Nouba Cirque du Soliel, then to the Hard Rock Cafe and wandering and partying before limo takes us to the Grand Floridian for the next 2 days of relaxation/spas...:-)
It's just gonna be FANTASTIC!!:-)

As for shopping, Kobi, cut back I must...I'll never stop loving to shop, but the use of credit is a thing of the past for me. I've gotten myself into too much mega-debt...the credit is being reserved for the "necessary"...like my eyeglasses and for on-line shopping, reservations, etc... but for the day to day clothing, gifts, etc...it's cash or not at all.

Tribs, we should all google our town (or closest big town) and find the most awesome things we would LIKE to do. It'll be cool reading the things that are going on around the country in everyone's neck of the woods. I guess that's mine. But, not what I would EVER do. I'm not that "flashy"!!! I can't believe yall believed me!! Of course with George, anythings possible...
Heck, give me a bottle of cheap wine and there's a party!!:-)

Truthfully, if John wasn't working, our preference would still be to stay home and keep the grandkids! Really and truly. We don't care that much about parties, and hate being on the roads on nights where drinking is the biggest focus. Much safer and saner right here! :-)

No kidding! I haven't been out for New Year's in FOREVER! It's too dangerous. Actually, I'd be more afraid I'd just fall asleep trying to get home! I can't stay up very late. I'm only good for about 30 more minutes now.

Honestly, a nice dinner or an evening with friends is about all I could handle myself. I love being quietly at home with my little family and I would fall asleep, too. When Marc (hubby) wasn't working nights, he'd nap and then get back up for the "festivities" of watching the ball drop! LOL

If I could do something local, I would head to Chicago to one of the big hotels along the lake front. Someplace where we could dance and party until the wee hours and then go upstairs to retire. It would be awesome to be able to see the fireworks at Navy Pier from the hotel. Or maybe a package deal with a limo: Signature Room for dinner and then on to the hotel for a party. Yep....if only!

If money was no object we would fly to Vegas for a kick a** party and spend New Years day recouperating in the spa !!

But here in the middle of mid-west he** --- grandma wanted to keep Riley so we are getting dressed up like big kids and going to dinner at Morton's.... yummmmmy. I'm not a big New Years Eve partier either... we'll come home stuffed and probably watch something on TiVo... ;)

Birds of a Feather....
Guy is on duty but even if he were home, we never go out past 10pm. I can't remember the last time we were out somewhere for fireworks. This year, I'm going to a friend's house for dinner and then home with the fur-kids :-)

LOL!! We were in Vegas for New Years last year and ended up watching the fireworks from the window and on tv at our friends' house. We had all fallen asleep in the living room. but someone woke up just in time! We had had an incredible dinner (our friend is an amazing cook) and lots of bubbly :-)

PegiSue, I thought you were joking but then with George you just never know... he might still see this thread and surprise you!!

I happen to know that Ms. Cynde and Michael are going to have a KICK A$$ rocking New Year's Eve. We'll have to live vicariously through them!

Let's see.... if $$$ weren't an issue my PERFECT New Year's Eve night would be...

to rent a luxury boat (with crew) for the weekend. We'd cruise the harbor to watch fireworks then head over to the Channel Islands - there is usually a really great party of anchored boaters off Santa Rosa or Santa Cruz islands (I'm not sure which but that wouldn't matter, if $$ wasn't an issue :-))
Guy could sleep as late in the day as he pleased and I could sit on deck in the warm sunshine reading something frivolous :-) :-)
Yeah, that's what I'd like most!!!

Too funny! Pegi Sue, I believed you and was extremely jealous! lol (I want a spa day again!)

We'll be here with a few close friends, and go to the clubhouse next door for their free drinks and crowns and noisemakers, and we'll be able to the all the fireworks from the lanai, and if we make it till midnight, there's a bottle of champagne chillin'. Maybe I should not drink wine and drink something else, as wine makes me sleepy. Might have to make a rum run today. :-)

We have some plans! We will eat an easy, lo-cal dinner here, then head about 40 min south to Bethesda, where there will be a contra dance. We'll dance deliriously up to midnight. At midnight, there will be a small glass of champagne or sparkling cider for each one to make a toast, then make noise, hug our friends and do the first waltz of the year with a favorite partner. Then we will head home, driving very carefully because of all of the crazies on the road and go to bed. This year will be special because Steve was unable to dance last year with his bad back.

Tomorrow, I'll make some black eye peas and I'm planning a soup made with barley and lamb shanks.

Gail, glad to hear that Bob arrived safely. Yes, you should put him in the crate so he doesn't start any fires!

Ken is sick. When he gets home from work, he will just feel like relaxing. The kids are having some friends over and we will just play cards and hang out with them. I am fixing lots of snacks for us.

My brother is going to ask his girlfriend to marry him tonight. So, I will be waiting by the phone to see what her answer is. I am already pretty sure she will say yes! That is a great way to start off a new year.

Kelly, if money was no object, we would be flying to Vegas right behind you!

I wish you all continued health, happiness and all the best life has to offer in the new year!

Cleaning out my 300 gal tank, my 17+ year old Snow Flake eel died last night. I'm not feeling very happy at this point.

Going to a friends house for diner and then to a birthday party. You all can take part, that's what my dad use to say when I was small.
"See that Jerry, everyone is wishing you a happy birthday." Now how cool was that?

Have fun, but be safe.

It's your birthday????

Pegisue's plan did sound like a great one. Too bad we couldn't all join her.

Joyce, we should get together. Lorinda and I are going to have a quiet dinner at home, then go to a rueda dance from about 7:00 to 10:00, then back home to the champagne, when will raise a toast to the new year and all of you who care to stay up and toast with us. (Well, we'll toast you anyway, but it would be nice if you would along with.)

Okay, the au gratin potatoes, beer marinated green beans and brownies are ready to transport. Time to feed the kids and then I'm outta here...
I doubt I'll be back home before midnight Eastern time... darn it.

Clink a crystal goblet for me and I'll see you shortly there after.

I have Alex fast asleep, and am getting ready to watch a movie. My neighbor lent me The Christmas Blessing, the followup to The Christmas Shoes. Definitely a chick movie, I guess!

But there are so many random fireworks already going off, that Chaos was going nuts. All 85 pounds of him tried to climb into my lap while I was holding Alex with her nitetime sippycup. Did not work well at all! He CHOSE to go into his crate, and is finally settled down. He probably thinks I'm still lying on the bed next to him, but I snuck out! (I put Bob in the crate with him, so that's helping him feel safe!)

Time for my 2 glasses of vino as I enjoy the movie.

Happy New Years, my dear friends.

Well...change of plans here. The snow has lots of people trapped in their homes, so Wes is outside right now trying to dig my car out. If he is successful, we are headed over to his sister's new place. She just moved on Friday and wants some company. Plus, she is very close. Only a few blocks over.

Happy New Year's to everyone (in case I don't make it back in time)!

Me still here; where are the other east coasters?! :-) Wake up seepy heads...it's almost next year!!!

We've been watching football, now we're watching ESPN's New Year NO Limits! That's my new motto for 2008! This Aussie freestyle Motocross guy is trying to break a world record and jump a football field with his dirt bike in Las Vegas! Cool, live show!

OYE....let's hope Rob aka Evil doesn't go out this weekend and THINK he can pull this kinda thing off! :-)

Hiccup!!

Was that fun or what!!!!

Actually, dinner was Fabulous!! My au gratin potatoes were a HIT, even after I 'fessed up to using Betty Crocker and embellishing with tarragon, 1/2 & 1/2, and bacon bits (Sandra Lee will be so proud ~ SemiHomemade). The Barefoot Bubbly was too sweet :-( but there was plenty of other goodness going around. One of my neighbors was there as a designated driver so his wife and I tasted the wine, the champagne, the sherry and the tequila :-) :-) :-) Only tastes, so no drunken debouchery but no driving for me either.

I got a message from Ms. Cynde but it was garbled ---- the Belly Up must be rocking :-)

1/2 hour to go for us Left Coasters!!!!
