Everyone must be snoozing in a bit today. I was awaked at 6:30 by a small child pretending to steal my nose! I loved it!

I am really annoyed with our local paper. Yesterday we had 4000 in the park walking to raise money for cancer research and prevention, and at the other end 1,500 people running to raise money to prevent child abuse, and there was no mention of those 2 events. 5,500 people. Instead, on the front page of the local section, 2 pictures and a long article about the anti-war protester group of 2000 people who peppered their speeches with profanity and the desire that all the good Christians should leave the country with our current administration under their arms. I was so awed by the turnout of people, working together to try and have a positive impact on health of all, and welfare of kids.....

This really burned my buns! I guess profanity and anger rules over good. Rant off.

Anyway, I hope you all have a fun day planned. Football or movies, or whatever! :-) Go Dolphins.... yeah, where HAVE they gone?!

I am so shocked. I cannot believe that our great press takes sides and pushes the their negative agenda.

Why who cares about a cure for cancer?

And these rags called newspapers wonder why they are losing circulation.

And no one in the world wants a cure for cancer more than me.

Morning Gail and John. :-) My girlfriend did the one day walk a couple of weeks ago, and put my mom's name on her back. Meant a lot to me. Her name was top on the list...
1

We've been out enjoying a gorgeous morning. While Larry was taking pictures, that song came into my head..."Let me tell you 'bout the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees and the moon up above....and a thing called love."

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!

Hi Gail, Kathy and John! Happy Sunday to you all. My son has a travel soccer game at 12:30, home game, and I will be going to that soon. Nothing else, but packing for Bonaire when I get back! Got some nice T-bones defrosting for dinner.

Gail, I think that what you did yesterday was wonderful and that the newspaper didn't even have anything on that is terrible. You did make a difference yesterday, even though the papers didn't think it was exciting enough to publish. :-)

The sun finally came out today after 4 days of rain, only 53 degrees, but sun is out and I am going to go soak up some of that sun power while at the game, I will have to dig out my jacket though first.

Have a great Sunday!

Great pics Kathy!!!:-)
Gail, I think it was all great too!! Yay for the good people!:-)
John, I'm with ya buddy. I don't get a newspaper, and rarely watch the news. They do tend to leave the good stuff out! If it's important enough, I will usually find it on here! And I think the cure for cancer is pretty dang important!

So, tomorrow nite, dinner with Patrick & Gail & John! AND anyone else who can make it...hint hint
This should be a good time!:-)

Gail, that is just sad commentary on the media! I would write a letter to your local paper and complain!
Last night I had the pleasure of taking my daughter and her best friend to see "Disney's High School Musical on Ice". OMG, the horror, the girls loved it but I, however, will take weeks to recover from it! :-)
Raiders football today, I'm cheering like crazy, World series tonight, (who cares, the Yankees aren't in it!!!)
CB and I had lunch (see other thread) this week and it was a hoot! I would love to have seen the Steinway factory, it sounded cool! But it was very funny trying to find out locations from her...did you cross a bridge, yeah I think so, I think it started with a "W", was it a big bridge or a little bridge? "UH, sorta big"....I'm still laughing!!!!
Happy Sunday to everyone....GO RAIDERS!!!!

Morning all!

Gail, I'm with the rest, what you did MADE A DIFFERENCE for the positive, and the media...well...they go for the "sensational" stories and I guess a cure for cancer and child abuse is just not sensational enough. I would write a letter to the editor of the paper...dont' take it lying down!

Debbie, have fun at the game:-)

PegiSue, have fun at the mini meet...gee, Patrick is making the rounds isn't he? lol!

rosanne, a martini might help the horror images of last night go away...lol!

Kathy, sounds like you had a good morning!

I'm going to make breakfast, and trying to get Michael to clean the back deck, it is covered in thick gooy soot...can't even go out there and I want to go outside for a bit today!

sorry rosanne, but GO CHARGERS!!!!

AND, they are playing at the Qualcom stadium! I'm tyring to find out what they did with the 9000 people that were there two days ago!

I am planning on a letter to the editor, but I'm giving it one more day to if the totals of money raised, and accurate count of particiapants may not have been available yet. If there's nothing in it tomorrow, I'll be writing, but I doubt they'll be publishing! :-(

Off to my son's to put down more laminate!

I just gave Calypso a bath. I just don't get it...a dog named "Calypso" wearing a dive flag collar...scared to death of water!!!! I gotta sit down with him and have a lllllllllong talk! What's he gonna be like when we get home from Bonaire? We are boarding him, at the vets. (That way if something happens, severe panic attack, he's right there with them.) He's gonna think he's locked up at the Humane Society again and we have left him FOREVER!! We are taking his toys, his blanket, things he loves. George says I can't take his recliner...WHY? Then maybe his futon...?... It'll fit, in his prison cell, somehow!:-)

Busy Sunday for everyone!
Gail - you most certainly did make a difference. Unless it's gore & drama good news doesn't seem to make it to the papers. I think too a letter to the editor is in order!
Kathy - great pics :-)
Debbie - have fun at the game. Hope Brandon & his team do good. Hope you're feeling MUCH better :-)
PegiSue - enjoy your mini-meet dinner. BT Hugs to all :-)
John - you got that right about the newspapers losing circulation!
RosAnne - sounds like a fun lunch that you girls had (and interesting)
Cynde - how's the back? Hope you're feeling better :-)

Gonna work on our pond today to get it ready for winter :-( (I don't like that word). Cut back all the flowers and cover the pond with netting to keep the leaves out & the herons away!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday everyone :-)

Good afternoon everyone! I've been very busy this morning. I finished not one but two committee reports, fed and cleaned all of the critters (by myself), done a load of laundry, went out for breakfast, and am now sitting down to write one lecture and then to start power grading. Wooohooo! I love my Sundays! :-)

Gail...I could go into a long diatribe about the media and it would cover everything from the bad news bias theory through the fact that all media outlets are now owned by a grand total of only 7 parent companies. You should come to my US Government class on media day. Arrrrgggg!!!!

Jerry...very nice to see you on this fine Sunday.

And to everyone else...(including Gail and Jerry)Have yourself a joyous Sunday!

HEY BECKY! YOU DONE PACKING YET???

Hi, Kids! I'm up to my ears in paperwork, trying to catch up from being gone. And tomorrow I go to my mother's for three days, as it's her birthday on Tuesday. I'm the one who does that stuff, and I do it gladly, but I wish I had backup...

Gail, sorry your good works didn't get the acknowledgement that they deserve from the local medium. Sensational coverage of any side of an issue, just makes reasonable dialogue between sides so hard.

Well, I'm off to sit in a big cage with a book for a couple hours...I've trapped all but one of the litter of kittens somebody dumped in our neighborhood, and I'm putting in some time trying to get them used to people.

Ok, I've trapped all but two, but I'm thinking one if them is going to end up with us. Don't really want another cat, but this one is trying to get up the nerve to come in, and I think it has a better chance with me than in foster care...

CB, you are a good daughter to your mom:-)

Any pics of the kitties? We watched Lady in the Lake yesterday, and there was this woman who loved animals and had such a good soul, reminded me of you, tribs, and a few other BTers!:-)

Good afternoon! Today was a good down day for me; just chilling and watching scary movies most of the morning! I did ride with Evil today up into the mtns. He rode his dirtbike for an hour+. His left hand has healed and he vowed to not do FRONT wheelies again. He did manage to keep the rubber side down :-) I sat in the SUV while he rode and get this, plucked my eyebrows!! LOL I'm so boring LOL!

We're home now and watching the last of Nascar. I'm off to eat my 4th meal of the day.....sssshhhaaaakkkkkeeee.

Is Tom coming home today?!?!?

PegiSue....prayers that your furchild does OK while you're away. Good idea for him to board at the vet. We have a house sitter; thank goodness BUT also have a great kennel in case sitter isn't free.

I'm sure Calypso smells good :-) Bits and Bini are due but they're sound asleep and that would be just EVIL LOL!

Afternoon BTrs!!!
Any doctors out there, cover your ears....
my friend gave me some of her Naproxen (anti-inflammatory) and Robaxin (muscle relaxer) last night and this morning I awoke a NEW woman :-) Still have a little bit of neck pain but NOTHING like yesterday. It's amazing. I got right out of bed, took Rasta for a nice walk, cooked up a storm and now I'm on laundry detail. I'm not going to tackle washing windows - no sense pushing it :-) Cynde, I wish the same relief for you my friend, seriously I do.

RosAnne, sorry about your Raiders. I had the game on while making a turkey meatloaf for Guy's homecoming dinner. The good news is Mara, BH and Timmmy should be happy campers!!

Tribs, your Sunday plans make me pooped out!!! You've gotten quite a lot accomplished - makes me look pathetic - Ha!

CB, looks like you'll have a really nice drive - the weather is stunning today. I would have a few more cats and another dog or two if I didn't have Guy shaking his finger at me :-) :-)

Gail, my cat Bob woke me up at 6ish wanting to suck my thumb - LOL!!! Sounds kinky but it makes him happy and I fall right back to sleep with him purring away on my tummy :-)

Kathy that's quite a long list on your friend's back. When my walking group did the 3 day walk we often talked about which of the 8 of us would be diagnosed as the statistics, at that time, were 1 in 7 women. It made the walk very profound. It's been 9 years since we walked and so far, with God's grace, we are all healthy. And still walking :-) :-) Good Job Gail, you're a wonderful role model for us all!

As far as the media goes, I think CB said it best...as long as it's all about sensationalization we've lost any true sense of journalism no matter what side of the fence you sit upon.

Gotta go change the laundry....
anyone out there with me?????

Hmmmmm.... PegiSue, I know I posted a couple of Squirrelfish pics but they are all on my other laptop.

I'm not one to take pharmies but I'm sure grateful for them today. I really didn't want the weekend to go by without getting something done, especially giving the little Miss a good walk :-) Besides, yesterday was easy to be a couch potato since it was so rainy and cold. Today it's warm and sunny - guess nature got the right meds too !!!!! LOL!

The only thing that can shake up my more than perfect weekend: I'm so glad you guys got to "shake it up", I did, too. It was a wonderful weekend here. But let me show you the next thing on the list...... I hope we get a hurricane day next week, and that it's for naught.

What a busy bunch. We've only been home 30 minutes, it was a long day.

Boom - I hate taking meds for anything, but can relate to needing to make the day count!

Kathy - great pictures. Did you say you guys worked for National Geographic? ;)

Oh Kobi - you just wait until Rylan walks and talks. You think she's stolen your heart now.... she'll just get more and more precious.

Mrs. Tribs - you work too much!!!!! Go play with Wes!

Pegi Sue - Good choice on where Calypso stays while you're on Bon. He'll be safe. See you tomorrow night!

RosAnne - High School Musical is all the rage for these kids. I've watched I and II at least 8 times with Kira, so I know it's all OK. They just love it. I just can't watch it 3 times in a row like the kids do!

Hey Cynde Lee - I'm glad you're resting well, please heal soon!

John - We all want the cure!

Judy - Bad word - 'winter' - I hate driving to work in the dark, and coming home in the dark. At least we don't have to winterize our pools, etc.

Thanks for sharing your day! I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I meet Patrick, Pegi Sue, and George! Another fabulous BT mini-meet, compliments of Jake & Linda, and Dan & Faith for starting this all!
