Well today is the last day of smoking for Kathy and I. There is someone else out there as well, we are just waiting for confirmation.
We will stop at 12.00PM tonight. Tomorrow will be hell, but we will win this battle. We both really want to quit.

Jerry, I am not staying up till midnight to quit, but am there with you. This morning I bought my last pack (hopefully). Six bleeping bucks and they taste like crap. Jeepers quit for two months and a two week Bonaire Trip is almost paid for or, I could afford to have my Huffy tuned (lol) When we retire this evening, Pamela and I are going to crush whatever smokes we have left and ...... well, we hope never pick the darn things up again

Off today, not feeling the greatest but, have already:

visited dentist

moved a load from the old house into garage at new place

and ordered lunch.

Plan on moving one more load of tools to the new house this afternoon then off to doctors - whoopie!!

Tom, good for you and Pamela. I just want my scene of taste and smell back. I want to walk into a room, without someone saying "did someone smoke?" I'm sure you know that feeling, "do I stink?" YES WE DO! I was carrying some sand bags last night from the side of my house to the back, I could not believe how I was sucking for air.

Jerry, I've been MIA running all over Tampa and back, but the payoff is that I'm HOME now, an hour early. I didn't stop and buy more cigs, and I have a half a pack. I'm really going to try, but I think I need MEDS!!! lol

If that helps? Go get the patch, gum, anything, but rid the house and car of butts and ash trays.

Every time you want a smoke think of BOB. That is how we look and SMELL to the people around us.

The plan: Stop tonight at midnight, flush any remaining butts down the toilet. There must be no butts.

Kathy, go get the patch for tonight. Have the last smoke, flush the rest, then stick on the patch and go to bed.

Now I wish I'd have looked in before lunch when I left the office, because I was at all kinds of places to get the patch. Jerry, I was nuts when I tried to quit without help. The one time I did quit for 9 months, I was on Zyban - then started cheating on myself, and one day just bought a pack, and there I went again.

I don't have any butts in the house, just one ashtray on the lanai, and in my car a water bottle that I drop them into. (ugh) There are 11 cigarettes in that pack out on the lanai. I can't promise you that I will be able to go all day tomorrow without even a puff, but I am going to try my best. It's always been VERY hard for me. My mom had a heart attack and cancer. My younger sister had a heart attack and 2 strokes, my dad has had quadruple bypass and 4 heart attacks. Who still smokes? My sister, my dad. My other sister and my brother, too. My mom died of breast cancer, but still. I hate cancer and all of it, and fear it.

Smoking is like the strongest illogical addiction on EARTH!

I want to live and not have health problems. My therapist (lol, I do have one because of trying to accept all that with my family at Christmas), wanted me to wait till June. I just have "got my groove back". But I am really tired of smoking, and I'll try my best along with you.

I wish you all success in your stopping smoking.. I did it cold turkey 4 years ago and I didn't look back.. I hate the smell of cigarettes on my clothes and can't even imagine how my breath must have smelled to everyone..It is a nasty nasty habit..The cigarette companies have put additives in each and every cigarette to make it addicting.. Just think what it does in the long run....ROTTEN LUNGS....EMPHYSEMA....SECOND HAND SMOKE IS DEADLY!!!! think of your grandchildren.{be someone that they will know for a very long time!}. think of your animals {poor things don't even know what it is to smoke and they are getting all that second hand sludge..poor babies} thinks of yourself and how much better you will feel without that nasty thing hanging out of your mouth.. You will be able to taste again.. REALLY TASTE!!!

Hi Gang! I have been working at the "new" job all day, just got home a little while ago. Count me in as I was going to start today, but still had some left, so tomorrow is D day!

Jerry, I will send you my phone numbers when I get a chance, off to make dinner and then off to the second job. Just KEEP BUSY! That helps a lot in the beginning. I am so busy, I don't know what is going on half the time now! LOL! I am off tomorrow so will be home somewhat.

Good for you Kathy, that's better then not wanting to quit. Do your best, but if you see yourself coming undone, act accordantly. That guilt thing is a b**ch (Lady dog) to deal with.

Don't get to worked up now, you still have hours to smoke your brains and lungs out. Kick back, light up, have some wine, watch the birds, enjoy you life.

Tomorrow will bring new challenges that we will deal with one step at a time.

I think I'll call Theresa tomorrow and see if she'll go ahead and prescibe at least the patch, but she was talking about - I forget the name now, the new wonder drug for stopping smoking. And Hypnosis! lol Honestly, I think I would respond to hypnosis, and I also privately think it would be fun to do.

I think I need the added help. I have been asking her since day one about stopping smoking, but she wanted to deal with everything else first and have a smooth sail for a few months first, before we attacked anything else. But I do think I'm ready.

I just smoked 4 puffs and put cig #11 out. It's good for a few more. lol How nasty is smoking a butt? lol

See, my spirit in this is right, so I will call her and I will try with all my might.

My last butt in the office. I will let the AC run all night. Louise got me some air filters, and spray when I close tonight. Ash tray will be discarded when I close. My stash of butts are gone.

visit your local hospital - that will really discourage you.

Great support group here. Yup - I'm a smoker too (so's the hub)! I have tried many times to quit - the patch; hypnosis & acupuncture; zyban - none were successful! You all have been an inspiration - so I'm going to call my doctor to get the prescription for that new drug (Debbie told me about it) and give it a shot too. I manage to stay off the butts during work but as soon as I am on my way home - I light up. I know I can't do it without help - probably the hardest thing I'll ever do but I also know it will be better for me, Les, and my animals AND hopefully, some day, grandchildren.
I wish you all the very best & know that I'll get the much needed support when I set "the date".

Hey Tom, I cleaned my car up inside out yesterday. Now I just have one water bottle to throw away.

Judy, I was hoping you'd chime in. I really liked thinking about June. lol Jerry pushed me to May! But I'm at the point where I need a push.

Bob and I gave up cold turkey 11 years ago when we realised we couldn't carry on diving and smoking. Our reward with the money we saved was a trip to Tobago the first year and then, you've guessed, a trip to Bonaire the next,it was worth it!!!

I am so proud of all our BTers who are quitting tomorrow !! You can do it, I just know you can. I'm sending my mojo too for all of you. Your family will thank you for it.
