I wonder if we have any new prom attendees in BT land? I'll be looking for Alison's photos.....is it tonight? I miss copying Stephanie's hair-dos! I still have her photo on the computer. :-)

So.....here's Megan from last weekend.

She had a great time and is already planning for next spring, her senior year.

Linda, thanks for posting the pics! Megan is GORGEOUS :-):-):-)!! Alison's Senior Ball isn't until May 12 and the final plans aren't made yet although we have the dress. I'll have to resurrect this thread then!
Anyone else with prom photos?

Babs, sorry for being so early with this thread. Our seniors are finished with school on May 11th...so I guess we're on an earlier school schedule. Ummmm May 12th....we'll be returning from our UH Manoa visit. :-)

Linda, Megan looks beautiful! They all do. Is that her BF or a "friend?"

Dylon graduates June 21...their last day of school is the day before, but it's all senior stuff. Prom isn't till June 9! He's not going though...doesn't do the "dance thing"...lol.

Linda, absolutely stunning gown and Megan is glowing! :-) I think the gowns get more beautiful every year or maybe its the gals, not the gowns? LOL! :-)

Linda, thanks for posting those pics! The dresses are just beautiful. Megan is so gorgeous and looks so happy! Stephanie had a dress that color one year.

I miss going shopping with Stephanie for this stuff. Ashley just turned 13 so I have some time to save up. Kyle is almost 15 but he is like Dylon. He says give me the money you spent on the girls so I can buy stuff for my truck.

Thanks for the compliments on Megan. She really is a great girl.....except on her last night in Bonaire she wasn't very friendly ..ugh...sorry, Babs. She REALLY NEEDS to live there!!! She cries every time she has to leave.

Prom is definitely an event here. Megan's group went to a nice steak place for dinner. We arranged for non-alcholic smoothie-type drinks (read island foo-foo) to be served in fancy martini glasses. The actual dance was held at a fancy, gated country club - Aspen Glen. At mid-night the dance is over, the kids change into casual clothes and the real fun begins.

APE - after prom extravaganza, is held back at the high school and ends at 3 am. Imagine sumo wrestling, henna tatoos, mechanical bull, lazer tag, more dancing, food, games - poker, black-jack,etc, prizes such as a new laptop. APE is the reason why guys like Cynde's Dylon go to prom. No one misses APE !!!

Our graduation is Memorial Day weekend and the underclassman get out the following week.

Cynde, BF or F ??? Well, Megan had a crush on her date back in 7th grade when they both went on the school field trip to New Zealand and Australia. Up until a few months ago he had a long-term girlfriend. Sooooo...Megan just grins when I ask! :-)

Linda...APE sounds WAY too cool. Can the kids go to APE if they don't go to the prom? I'll have to see if Dylon's HS has something like this. They have all sorts of events planned. Grad Night is at Knotts Berry Farm. Ours was at Disneyland many moons ago, what fun. LOL on Megan not being friendly...teenagers...lol.

Lisa, lol on Kyle, Dylon's the same way. Why waste money, just give me the cash. I'm trying to plan a graduation party for him, and last night he said "I really don't care about a party, I just want to GRADUATE and get money"...lol. It's been a rough 3 years for him, but we are so proud of him. When he came to live with us, he had ALL Fs the previous year and a half (freshman year, and first semester of his sophomore year)...but he is A's and B's now:-) WHEW!

Megan is just stunning!
I love that she cries when leaving Bonaire - tells you even more about the place you all love so much :-)

Thanks for the comments.

Elvira, Megan wants to study Marine Science and there is no program in Colorado...imagine that?! Hawaii is a "sister" state regarding tuition and it is actually cheaper, tuition-wise, than most Colorado schools.
Sooooo, we have two appointments next week - University of Hawaii-Hilo and UH-Manoa. Manoa is a Division I school and has the attended attraction (Megan's) of a Cheer scholarship. We will also be making a trip to Texas A&M in Galveston, where Debbie's Tiffany attends. Debbie's been very helpful with my many questions. Yea BT !

Cynde, APE is for all juniors and seniors, whether or not they attend prom. BUT most kids go to prom...even in groups - no dates. I attended Grad night at Disneyland in '67 (as a date) and '68. My son works in security at Disneyland and is NOT looking forward to the many grad nights! :-) Congrats to Dylon (and to you:-)) for turning around those grades. Any college interest? After my son's injury and rehab he obtained two degrees from Saddleback.

Beautiful pics, Linda. APE sounds like fun!
Cynde, cheers for Dylon! I like that kid (don't tell him I called him Kid). I think it was the turtle-in-the-bathtub story that won me over!

Cynde - way good job with turning Dylon around. You and Michael saved his future!

Another Marine science student? How cool is that! And wouldn't Hawaii be a great place to study the ocean - surrounded by it!

Sad story here on grad night - dozens of cars were broken into at the high school parking lot while the kids were at Disney. Had to be other students who knew the buses wouldn't be back until morning. It just takes all kinds.....
