Where else can I go and talked about what happened today but my favorite place BT

I was going to pick-up dry cleaning, I stopped at the light waiting for the light to change when I heard a bam!!!! I just looked at the mirror and saw this young girl crying and raising her arms. I got out of the car, she got out I asked them if they were ok - and they said yes. I told I got to call the police and she just started crying - I felt bad for her but .... I asked her what happened and she said "my phone rang, I looked down and then I was on top of you" I thought that was funny!!

Two good looking police officers came, they asked what happened, we told them, he went to his - we started chatting with the other officer, he comes out and he says well I have to call the other county this is not our jurisdiction -- I couldn't believe it.

We waited for a little bit and then the other officer came gave us a piece of paper to go pick-up the report and that was it.

I am fine - is just the scary part of having an accident and I felt sorry for the young girl, the father came by and did not even went and give her a hug or anything, kept his distance. I don't understand that. I did give her a hug and told her that it was going to be ok.

My car left back fender is scratch and bend but not much, her car got more hit! My left side shoulder hurts a little but hopefully is nothing.

Ok - I feel better now that I share this with my good buddies :-)

Uh oh! I can empathize! The person who hit me a few weeks back didn't cry, but he felt like an idiot. :-) One of the first questions the insurance people asked me was if either of us were on our cell phones. Thank goodness NO!

Hope it's nothing with your shoulder!

Vira - hope you are feeling OK - I can remember getting really hit on 75 South inside the perimeter of Atlanta during morning rush hour traffic. Unfortunately it wasn't a fender bender as my car was totaled. It was a 4 car accident and I was # 3. And who did I hit??? The mayor of Atlanta - Maynard Jackson.

But I'm glad it wasn't too serious.

OK ladies...Cold showers for all of you! Now you sound like my wife and daughters; there was an accident but you should have seen the good looking police officers!......:0)

Elvira, good to hear that you are OK.

Some parents forget that cars can be replaced, children cannot. Elvira you are a good person to hug that girl, comfort her, and let her know it's going to be alright. That's exactly what I would want someone to do for my girls.

Oh my, you are such a good person. I'm glad no one was seriously hurt. I think sometimes it is too hard when you are the parent to not be mad. I remember my first accident and my mom/dad had to pick me up at the hospital. They were so furious! I eased the tension by "pretending" I was dead. I was really just sleeping, but they had me strapped to a back board with a neck brace and my mother screamed "OMG she is dead!" To which I replied, "Not yet but I will be when you see the car." You did a good thing by telling her it would work out.

SSG, what a bummer! You are a sweetheart for hugging her. Cell phone...I'm sure the good looking cops were happy about that...I had a girl back up onto the hood of my car years ago. We were stopped waiting to pull out onto a busy street. She decided she didn't want to wait, so threw it in reverse and hit the gas...well, she din't look behind her and so her SUV ran up onto the hood of my car. She was scared to tell her dad, wanted me to just get it fixed and she would pay me cash...in PAYMENTS when she had the money...uh...don't think so...I don't think her dad was happy...lol!

Tribs...that's a funny story...lol...

My first accident;
I was 16 and messing around the neighborhood with friends, I rear-ending my friend Eric's car with my Mom's Oldsmobile (there may have been booze involved). No damage to Eric's old rambler but some to Mom's car. I was too scared to go and tell my parents what happened; so I told my brother instead.
Paul, being the great big brother, takes Mom's car and slams it into a telephone pole! He throws me the keys and says "just tell Mom you hit the pole, she'll understand".....needless to say, I never went to him with a problem again! And there was no Elvira there to hug me...:0)
Thank God for older siblings!

Ha! Paul sounds like a quick-thinker!

Vira- I'm so glad that you're not hurt. You've certainly added to your good-karma by thinking of that girl when you could have focussed only on yourself and the imposition she caused.

Yah, he's a quick thinker with my neck (and other parts) on the line.
We still laugh at that. Like the line from Animal House "hey, you screwed up, you trusted us"

IMHO, cellphones in moving vehicles are bad, DC has banned their use and Northern VA is talking about banning teens from using them in vehicles.

Santa Barbara just banned them in Jan 07.
They say hands-free are okay although in my experience, I've seen people distracted just as much by those - messing with earpieces, wires, or such....
remember the days before cell phones when we just called people back? Still works for me :-)

Vira, Sorry to hear about the fender bender. It was a very sweet and kind gesture to give that girl a hug, thank you from a mom of a daughter who would appreciate it if it were her daughter out there alone and all.

Vira - phew - glad nobody was hurt - hope your shoulder is better by tomorrow. Hopefully, this was a wake-up call for her regarding using a cell phone while driving! That was so nice of you to give her a hug.
BIG (((gentle))) HUGS to you :-)

So glad you are OK. Just read your post. You are so sweet to comfort the young lady even if her father didn't. Hope it doesn't cost to much to fix your car. Love Ya Andy

Hey Guys, no pain on shoulder or neck!!!

Thanks everyone for the kind words, no major damage is a relief.

I have always liked police officers and firemen, dated a fireman for many years and was married to a policeman. And then my son became a policeman so I guess is something in me!!!! :-) :-)

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Glad to hear your O K! Here in Las Vegas my 17 year old just finished a class called "Drivers Edge" don't know if you have this program? It teaches kids how to pull out skids and how to use anti- lock brakes. The other two quarter were about distract-ants and car care.
The Nevada Highway Patrol officer at this seminar equates talking on the cell phone to being drunk--he saw no difference!
