b.... Today is Bike to work day.... Something I always thought was a good idea.... but having to drive 30 miles to work in the northeast seems not possible....(especially on bad hair days, ugh ) Can't someone make hooded bicycles? so to all of you out there brave enough to weather the storm...happy peddling...
(everyone out there have a good mothers day yesterday???? patience IS a virtue!)

Good morning and it is POURING here - great day to celebrate FROG JUMPING DAY!!

A story about a jumping frog made Mark Twain famous. It was first published in 1865 as "Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog" while Twain was still a struggling journalist in California - and two years later it was the main attraction of his first book. He never wrote another short story that had such widespread appeal and was so popular.

Here's Charlotte and a Princess:

Hi Freddie! It is a prefect frog jumping day - they usually move from one pond to the other on days like this. I'm always surprised to catch the big bullfrog in the small pond. We're getting goldfish babies already - the eggs they laid last week hatched out yesterday.

Hey there Rusty,
Speaking about goldfish, in my son's pond last year there were only three fish, now there are twelve. do you think because we had a mild winter that they hatched early?? First time this has happened...

BikerBob is not terribly happy with the long range forecast - looks like we better start building an ark!

ark

Freddie - how big are the babies? The ones that just hatched out are like an eyelash but will be an inch long in a month or two - some of them. Was there any way they could have just hidden out all winter in murky water? More likely last year's, I think.

I think you are probably right about last years hatch.. the babies are about two inches long compared to the large fish..6 inches or better

I always find it exciting to see the fish mating and finding the little clear eggs attached to any and every piece of plant matter floating in the pond. Usually they pick a rainy day and start splashing right out of the water as they race around together. Momz sent us some water lettuce and water hyacinths and the roots are the best for catching the sticky eggs. We move a few plants to a big planter full of pondwater and watch them develop there.
