Hello My BTrs!! I apologize for not posting and wishing you all a most joyous holiday but I have been true to the hubby and our wonderful birthday vacation :-) :-) :-) :-)
We left Santa Barbara on the 26th, spent two days in Vegas with his best friend (since high school), then down to Phoenix to visit another friend, then the road was ours and open...
we drove up to Sedona only planning on staying one night but here it is three nights later and we're still here :-) :-) It's just beautiful!!
Here are a few pics from our trip...
Dinner at Phoenix (Guy had a Lobster & Kobe beef burger) where's the beef
It's been one of our best vacations ~ when we pulled into Sedona some weasely little Timeshare Seller tried to convince us that we'd never find a place to stay because the town was booked up... Thankfully, we didn't pay him any mind. We stayed in the cutest B&B on the first night and then moved to the Best Western Arroyo Roble the next night.. we really only planned to stay the one night but it has been such a wonderful spot that we are still here :-)
here is our "patio"
a little wine and cheese on our arrival
today we did a helicopter tour of the canyons! It was just incredible and you can imagine how much Guy enjoyed it. We just happened to be seated in the front with Guy next to the pilot and me in the best seat in the house :-)
guy and our pilot, steve
this is the view from the helicopter as we went over the red rocks
talk about e ticket ride
We spent the night before NY's eve at the Cowboy Grill and I have to admit to too many martinis (they were really busy so the bartender kept sending them over while we waited for dinner) but the food was so good that we decided to go back tonight for a real sit-down dinner
Ken Volk Pinot Noir with their apple bourbon butter and fresh bread
There are so many other stories I could relate and not enough words to express how much we've enjoyed this trip. I'm sorry to my Bro Patrick that I haven't returned your call yet... it just has been, drive, eat, visit friends, drive, eat, visit friends, drive, hike, eat, explore, eat, hike, sleep, eat, hike, drive....

We've been enjoying the trip so much that didn't even go out last night.
Tomorrow we head towards home and our kids...
see you all then :-) :-)
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Having been to Sedona, I'm not surprised by this reaction. It is a beautiful place. It's also a power center (astral power), so you should come home with better auras.

Tara - thanks for checking in and posting the beautiful pics. That's a great shot from the chopper (whirleybird - Barbara :-) )
We've got friends who have a home in Sedona & were married there & they absoultely love it. I've heard so many nice things about that area - no wonder you stayed longer :-)
Who's birthday was it? Or is it? Did I miss something?
Have a safe trip back :-)
Hugs

Hi, Judy. For Guy's FIFTIETH birthday in November, I think, Tara offered him his choice of an underwater camera and a dive trip to Mexico (Tara, go to Bonaire!) or a GPS unit and a roadtrip to the Southwest. He picked the GPS unit, and this is the roadtrip. Fifty looks like forty on him, huh?

Barbara - thanks for the info. I hate missing BTers B-days!
Nice present Tara (good choice Guy)
Barbara - yup Guy really doesn't look 50! Shave off 10 years for sure.

Hey, Tara! Joe and I were just out in Sedona in November and fell in love with the whole place. We only intended to spend two nites there in the beginning of the trip but fell in love with everything and everyone and made one more nite's stay on the way back to Phoenix from Mesa Verde.

We will be returning to Sedona again in November. Just fell in love with the beauty, the people and the serenity...hmmmmm....sounds like a place called Bonaire! LOL.

So glad you liked it in Sedona, too!! Happy Trails. Carole

Here is a shot as nite was beginning to fall sedona

LOL!!! Eileen that was my reaction too :-)
We're back home and I'm back at work :-(
The pictures are all at home so I'll have to wait to post more.
The trip was picture perfect the entire way home - it was a 10 1/2 hour drive along 40West - such a nice route.
Sedona was so nice that we didn't make it to the Grand Canyon or down to Tucson to visit with Paul (aka Krazy African). We're looking forward to another footloose trip for that one!
More pics tonight or tomorrow :-)
