I just read Carnaval starts Feb 11 with the Grand Finale Feb 20. Hooray for us. We arrive the 10th and stay til the 24th. We'll be there the entire time. It's our first visit to Bonaire. Is this Carnaval similar to Cozumel Carnaval? Is it as big a deal. We hope so.

Marge, it's a pretty big deal. Lots of action and parades in Rincon. Do a keyword search at the bottom of the page for "Carnival" and you will find lots of links with pictures folks have posted.

Marge - we were there last year during Carnival & it was great although didn't see enough. I had totally forgotten about it & on one of my daily walks to town stumbled on the kids parade (in Kralendijk). I did not have my camera with me (which is very rare) but thoroughly enjoyed seeing the kids, floats & listening to the music. The costumes were fabulous - they certainly go through a lot of effort to have everything just perfect.
We'll be there again in '07 - maybe we can hook up & get to some of the parades together!

You bet. We plan on going to Gibi's on both Tuesdays while we're there. We look forward to meeting some BTer's. It will be our first time to Bonaire. Hopefully, we'll meet you there. We're staying at Happy Holiday Homes. Where are you staying.,

It's a good idea to know when the parades are, as traffic comes to a complete standstill in town. Two years ago we didn't know about some parade and were on our way to get pickup takeout that we ordered.

Don't worry about the picture part. I'll have that covered. I'm taking two cameras each with a 2GB card. One for underwater and one for above water. We'll have lots and lots of pictures to share If and that's a big if, I can figure out how to post a link. I'll be sure to have it figured out by February. Promise.
