Ok...some on here have been asking to see my Monster House Makeover that I luckily received last year from the now cancelled TV show on Discovery Channel. I applied online, suggested the theme and 4 days later they were at my house!! No it didn't cost me anything. Yes, you do pay taxes on it, and NO, I did NOT know exactly what they were going to do! They put you out front of your house in a nice trailer for the week and you go crazy not knowing what they're doing! They have done some cheesy stuff on this show, but I really lucked out..I LOVE what they did!

I suggested we have the Left Coast Mini Meet here next year! I have a group that goes to the Renaissance Faires dressed as pirates....yes, WAY before Johnny Depp was doing it! Now my pirate friends and I have fantastic parties here!

Bear with me..I'm posting pics for the first time on here!

Mercy, I'm there! That is so awesome! So, the skull is a hot tub! How cool!!! I say though that at the mini meet we have to have a theme night and dress like pirates :-) Maybe even do a pirate murder mystery party? wouldn't that be fun? who through the BTer overboard maytee? Do you have a plank we can walk??? AARRGGG!!!

I have to admit, when we were on the midnight sail, and Mercy said that she had her house done on Monster House, in a pirate theme, I thought she was joking!

What did the neighbors think?

Wow, Awesome! Thanks for posting the pics! :-)
Now, it will be even harder to not be there next year! You all have to move closer to the east coast!

It's so awesome sitting in my office everyday and looking out on the shipwreck! There are a lot of cool details you don't see in the pics really.

Kathy...what are you not sure about with the skull hot tub? It's SOOOOO cool. And I gotta be the only person in the world with one! I usually say to people...wanna come swim in my skull??

Lisa...the bar is probably one of my most favorite features about the whole thing! Love the pirate burial in the sand!

GH...LOVE that idea of having a pirate murder mystery party!! The plank is the diving board for the pool! In the show, all the construction workers had to walk the plank (which real pirates never really did!) and dunk into the pool. You'll see it when you watch the DVD I'll send ya. Neighbors were invited to the reveal, some came, most didn't.

Only thing is...if we dress like pirates, you will have to put up with me making fun of probably everybody since we authentic 16th century reenactors usually make fun of all the "Target pirates"! That's peeps that dress like they bought their costumes at Target! But that might make it even more fun!!

Here's the pyrate lasses in my crew....

No Kathy, they didn't do my entire house..that might be a bit much! You let them know which two rooms in the house they can do..but they only did my den.

A MEGA MEET?? Whoa Nellie...people flying in from all over the world (ok, maybe just the country!) to come to my house?? That actually sounds like fun!! Have to think about that one....

By the way, what is the nearest airport? A girl has to be prepared when travelling! WOW, an international mega meet would be so cool.

Wow, Mercy! What a house! I have to send this link to my daughter because she's the one who dreamed up our Pirate Christmas..... and she'd love your party house!

I would just like to question the caliber of cable holding up the skull top as you sit in the spa?!!!!!

Angela..I live in Los Angeles, so LAX and Burbank Airports are the closest.

My first thought when I saw everything was....COOL!!!! I loved it right away! I know this isn't for everyone..but hey, good thing being single..didn't have to confer with anyone else and I'm a bit eclectic, so my friends know that this is SOOOO me!

I've been tweaking it all a bit ever since. I bought nice bar stools for the bar...there is the central bar, and then there are two more bar like shelves at the front of the ship. I bought glass and rope floats, a beaded curtain, and of course pirate shot glasses! I'll take another pic of the inside of the ship soon.

Gail...the cable is like one of the thickest steel cables on the winch that automatically lifst up the top of the skull. They PROMISED me that it would not ever drop on me! But you better believe I've thought about it when I'm sitting in there! But the skull is made of styrofoam...so it shouldn't hurt TOO much if it falls on me!

They made this treasure chest area next to the skull jacuzzi that instantly became a kitty litter box for all the cats!

So my friends helped me cover it up and it is now more like an observation deck.

This cannon shoots water clear across the pool!

Flying the Jolly Roger! Since ripped to shreds from the wind! One of my crew is making a new one out of canvas.

And my friends also built this bench around my extremely old and large Texas Umbrella Tree. Always wanted one of these!

This one is more for Guy and Tara, but they came by to make sure it was all up to snuff! Actually, they knew one of the producers from another MH they did and they were invited over by him and I was only too happy to pose with them!

Wow, all we get is Charlie Dimmock and Alan Titchmarch adding a water feature or two in our gardens.

Mercy, that is one heck of a make-over....I love it! At first I thought it was a "temporary" set up but as I read further on I now see that it is still there....that's terrific! I have sent the page off to friends of mine to enjoy your house and fun. I know most of them will wish they could be there to experience it first-hand, too!

Wish Joe and I could get out there for a BT gathering, too, but we are headed for Arizona shortly. It would be so much fun to meet everyone and enjoy your company and home, too!

Your outfits are outrageous and everyone looks so authentic. I know most of the guys are drooling all over this page, too.....very beautiful and voluptuous ladies. cb

Mercy Mercy! Very awesome pics...and YES to the next mini meet at your place...you'll have to give us all advanced notice so we can book an entire HOTEL with BT'ers....wouldn't that be a kick seeing a huge bunch of pirates tromping about LA LA land for a weekend? :-)

Way cool Mercy, I loved that show and thought about applying myself, but didn't think they were coming all the way to the midwest. I was bummed they got cancelled.

I love your house!!:-)

Hey Brian...Charlie and Alan? Must be a UK thing, eh? I spent a lot of time in Croydon a few years ago when I had a Brit boyfriend.

Carole...it's WAY permanent! They even had to have the city building inspector come out twice to give the ok. The ship is actually attached to my house. And Skull Island is laid into a mound of cement..nothing is going anywhere!

Becky...I think the show really stuck to the San Fernando Valley where I live. The Mad Scientist house is right down the street from me! I found this out when the homeowner showed up at my reveal. And the Valley has the biggest backyards of almost anywhere in Los Angeles. My house is about a half acre which is major property here in LA.

I was bummed they were cancelled also. They did it in August of last year, then cancelled the show so my episode wasn't even aired until this past Feb when they were going through a ratings sweep. The uproar on the Net about them being cancelled is pretty funny.

Mercy, just finished watching the video of the episode you sent me...thanks:-) What an ordeal that skull was huh? O...M...G....talk about artistic DRAMA...lordy lordy! lol! I can't imagine you having to live in the front of the house in a trailer and not see what they were doing...and seeing big chunks of foam being delivered...must have thought...gee, hope they aren't going to do something really tacky!

Thanks again! I'll drop it back it back in the mail to you this week. I really enjoyed watching the transformation. I hope we get to have the meet at the "ship" someday:-)
