OK...hit me with all of your remedies. I have picked up a cold and am supposed to be diving on Sunday. I have the Sudafed, NyQuill, orange juice, vitamins and lots of kleenex (went through 2 full boxes since yesterday). What else can I do?

(Don't fear Becky, we will be there with the kids in tow. We have to get RJ and Kaytlyn in the water together.)

Tribs - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:-( Start pounding Ecinacea!!!(sp?) I've been feeling a "tickle" in the back of my throat on rare occasions the last 2 days... going to take my own advice and pick some up on the way home.

Tribs - These nose swabs are the best...They wipe out a cold for me in hours...just have to catch it before it grabs on...I keep them in my truck and when I feel that tickle I use one fast!

Yep, I can attest to the Zicam working as well! Hope it works for you!

Hot and sour soup, spicy. Also ginger garlic tea ( just make it with ginger and garlic and water)

I think I have the same cold. I never get sick but I can't say that now. I sat outside all night watching Ashley cheer in the mudd at her game. I know that damp weather didn't help this cold at all. I will have to go pick up some Zicam.

Seb, I may have to try that ginger garlic tea. I love to cook with ginger and garlic so I know I have both here.

Now this is only a suggestion and has no medical basis:

Put three heavy blankets on the bed....down 10-20 of the hottest wings you can stand....chase them with a pint of Jack Daniels (Black label of course)and go to bed and sweat it out.....Note: If this does not work at least your belly will be full, you will clear your sinuses open, and you'll be so high you really won't give a crap.

one big tablespoon of wasabi mustard (the stuff they give you with eggrolls at chinese restaurants). that will clean out your sinuses. follow that up with sudafed to keep them from clogging again.

I'm so sorry, Jeanine. That cold has been making the rounds. The good news is that it seems to disapate in 3 days. Unfortunately allergen counts are sky-high right now which only aggravates everything. Sounds like you are doing all the right things. Sleep is a great healer too. Hope you can get rid of it quickly. The only good thing about it is the only time you feel good is when you are eating and drinking. :-) Perfect excuse to eat all those spicy foods and warm drinks. I don't think I could get the ginger garlic tea down though.

Thanks for all of the advice. The spicy hot stuff all sounds good right now because I can't taste a thing! Christine, you are correct this seems to be moving fast. I'm no longer sneezing constantly. I actually sneezed 19 times in a row, which is a record for me. Seb, that tea sounds wonderful. I like garlic and ginger. Can it be done with ginger powder or does it need to be the root?

Jeanine
Jagermeister does it for me. A double at bed time and you'll be good to go in the morning.

Also zinc is supposed to be good at blocking colds and flu bugs from attaching to your cells by blocking the receptors. Again not medical advice but something we picked up at a health store. We agree with Echinacea and take it and zinc everyday from a week or so before and during any dive trip. We also like the very hot curry and red wine remedy.

Now that's thinking ahead, Brian! I'll remember that.

Jeanine, I'm morally opposed to ginger powder and pre-ground pepper, so I couldn't say.

I know what you mean Seb...I have the powder ginger for a pumpkin pie recipe that called for it. That's all I have in the house right now, so I thought I'd ask. :-)
