It's hard to believe that 1 year ago we were packing things up to head for a tradeshow, thinking that the hurricane had missed our family in New Orleans and all would be fine. That day, life changed for so many.
Our family was so fortunate but even so their lives will forever be different.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone - worldwide - that they hug those close to them, tell someone outside of the norm that they love them, smile at a stranger, give aide to someone less fortunate and listen to an elder.
xo,
T

I add my thoughts and prayers to all who need it today.

I need a hug today. My cat of 18 years passed away Sunday night. Misty was very old and I knew it wouldn't be long. I spent the weekend holding her and talking to her and she passed away two hours after I left my parents house. When I graduated and moved to an apartment, my parents kept her for me (no pets aloud). Then they got so attached to her, they didn't want to give her up. She will be missed but she isn't in pain anymore and I know it was her time to go. Then I got a call late last night that my friends father had passed away. He has been sick for awhile but she is having a hard time accepting that he is gone.

Lots of sadness right now around the world but I know it will get better for everyone.

I'm so sorry your kitty died. Even though you understand that it is good they are out of pain, it still hurts like a son of gun. You could read the Rainbow Bridge. It helps sometimes.

Let's pray for peace and joy for the world today, especially those we know who are in pain.

Hugs to all who need them today. I've been away for two weeks in New York. I didn't turn on my computer once! I am a native New Yorker and I visited Ground Zero for the first time since 9/11 and was overcome by sadness. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who were effected by Katrina and hope for a mild hurricane season without any lives lost this year. Lisa, sorry about your kitty, mine is getting up there, 16, and I worry every day about her. Everyone take a moment today to be thankful for our lives, loves, families and laughter we are able to enjoy each and every day.

Dear Lisa,
So sorry, I know how you feel right now, and you are not alone with this. We love our pets, and they love us back more then they love themselves.
Be well dear.

I agree with Tara - you should appreciate all the good and all of the ones you love everyday.
A big hug to Lisa. hug So very sorry about your furry-faced friend. It doesn't matter that they are old when you lose them. It is still a big loss and pain for a while. After a while, though, you will start remembering the happy moments and antics and love and you will be able to smile again.

Thank you everyone! I have been thinking of all the times Misty was there for me. It's funny how petting an animal can make everything seem OK. It's like they are magic and they love you unconditionally. I feel very lucky to have had so many years with her.

I just got home from going to my brothers grave. His birthday would have been Thursday, so I took flowers over today. Thursday I will be with Kelly dropping Stephanie off to college. What a week!!! I will take all the hugs I can get!! Here are a couple for someone else who may need them today!!

Lisa - big hugs coming from here...
Years ago, I saw a study where they showed that petting a cat lowers your heart rate... I did my own experiment and wore a heart rate monitor all night. When I woke up, I began petting our cat as he laid on my chest (as we did every morning) and sure enough my heart rate dropped.
There's your meds :-)

Lisa, so sorry to hear about Misty... as everyone said, our critters love us more than life itself, and I hope most days I am worthy of that love.:-) You were lucky to have had each other!
