We are planning a trip to B.C. at the end of the summer, probably mostly Vancouver Island and would like to do a little diving (my daughter and I are taking a drysuit course and plan to do some diving in NJ to prepare; my wife is a warm-water only diver, puts on hood and gloves below 80 degrees. So it's is not a dedicated dive trip, prob. one or two days diving and will need to rent drysuits. Can anybody recommend a particular area, dive op, etc?
Also my daughter has problems with mal-de-mer, so relatively protected water is better (me? I'm never never sick at sea...Well, hardly ever). Have started to read about diving in BC and there seems to be pretty incredible variety in terms of sites, dive ops etc. Any help would be appreciated.

David

Hi David:
I dove Vancouver Island two years ago, going back this year. I went with my teen age niece and we had a blast. I really recommend diving there!

For general BC diving Info, check out bcdiveguide.com: dive shops, charters and places to stay.

Check out Shorediving.com for some shore dives off Ogden Point Breakwater and Saanich Inlet in the south.
Victoria: Ogden Point Dive Center divevictoria.com

Boat dives to wrecks
Nanaimo: Dive Outfitters (does the wreck Saskatchewan) thediveoutfitters.ca

Fabulous walls, wrecks, fish and invertebrates, boat diving
Quadra Island/Campbell River: AbyssalCharters abyssal.com

I definitely recommend a drysuit!
