Goodmorning all! I get to start a thread :-):-):-)

I received these pics this morning and just had to show them.....they are amazing!

........A woman found the fawn under her step (they think the doe might have been hit by a car) .. Her Ridgeback dog is helping look after it. The family named the fawn Bella. Once she has regained her strength (she was not in good shape when the family found her) they are going to send her to some friends who have raised two orphan deer and released them to the wild. Right now she is being bottle fed. Their dog (Hogan) has basically taken over.

The fawn even shares his bed.

Hi LaDonna,

Thanks for sharing, I have to agree w/Freddie - the second picture is the best. Amazing how that dog took over and he is a big dog!

Amazing is the word. In another situation the dog would have eaten that fawn. It makes you think that just maybe the good side of humans can rub off.

swans Oh my, Cecil. Since swans mate for life - I do wonder what's in the future for these two. Gender confusion, for sure. LOL

Today is Saint Swithin's Day!!!

(It's a UK thing.}

St Swithin's Day, if it does rain
Full forty days, it will remain
St Swithin's Day, if it be fair
For forty days, t'will rain no more

rain

Celebrated (or berated as the case may be!) on July 15th, weather sayings pertaining to St. Swithin's Day are probably the most infamous weather sayings in the UK. St. Swithin died 862 and was buried outside Winchester Cathedral so that he could 'feel' the raindrops when he was dead. However, when he was canonised a tomb was built inside the cathedral and July 15th 971 was the day his body was to be moved. Legend has it that a storm, breaking the end of a long dry spell, on the 15th and rain on each of the subsequent 40 days led to the monks taking this as a sign of 'divine displeasure' and left his body where it was.

Great story, Cecil... Thanks!! :-)

I always find it amazing - people will not even say hello to one another when passing, but give them something a little out of the ordinary to watch, or hope for, and they suddenly remember they are not the only inhabitant of the planet and will start to communicate. :-)

:-) Bill :-)

That second picture is the sweetest thing I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing!
We just dropped our kitty off at the vets. I hope everything goes well. I felt like I was leaving one of my kids. We didn't want her to have any kitties and she keeps trying to get out the back door every time the neighbor's male cat is out there making noise. I can't believe they don't even keep them overnight after surgery.

LaDonna,

Thanks for the photos, don't you love it when our animal friends surprise us.

Happy St. Swithins Day Rusty. Looks like we are in for forty more days of rain. Gonna let my hair grow, put on some sandals start building a BIG BIG boat. Now where did those two camels go?

Lisa, good luck with your kitty. She will be fine! If she is anything like my kitties, she will be VERY drunk when you get her home this evening! it's actually quite funny! :-)

Tom, I say we gang up on St. Swithin.....no more rain PLEASE.....

PS. Can I have a spot on your Ark?

Great pictures! I love Rodesian Ridgebacks! They are just hugs teddybears!
Lisa, your cat will be OK! No worries, like LaDonna said, she will be a little drunk when she gets home, and she will probably walk with stiff legs for a few days.

Karin, I love the ridgebacks too! When I stayed in Antigua, the house where I stayed had two resident rhodesians.... man are they FRIENDLY dogs !! Those big dogs would climb right up into the chair on my lap. :-)

We just got a call from the vet and everything went just fine. I can pick her up in a hour. They said she would seem "out of it" so this should be interesting. Have a great day everyone!!

LaDonna, You are on it. See you and Andy in Bow next weekend?

Lisa, Glad to hear your kitty is well. Karin is right, give her a few hours and she will sober up. Do not be surprised if she does not want to go for a car ride with you too soon;-{)} Take the neighbor's cat for a ride to the vet next that will stop him from yowling:-{o}

Bill (ST), You are so right regarding human behaviors in our all too busy world.

Finally some time for CC. What a great pictures, LaDonna. Very cute to see the dog and fawn! Thanks for sharing. It makes me feel very happy to see Even though I just got back from a visit to the dentist. And having a numb right side of my face. But that will be over in a few hours. Hopefully not switching to pain....

Diana, hope your feeling better. I don't think anyone likes to go to the dentist.
Katie was really mean when we picked her up from the vet. After a few hours she was just like you all said she would be. She walked like she had a few drinks in her. By 11:00 PM she let me pet her and was very sweet with us again. I am so glad that she is doing so well. It amazes me how close we get to these little creatures! Have a great day everyone.
