Hi All,

Freddie, thanks for posting the picture. I tried to send to more but I am so retarded I swear, I am brain dead. I'll figure it out a little later.

OK, about the picture. We went to this French restaruant on the beach (the pic of mom sitting in the chair on the beach from yesterday is the same place). I go to the bathroom, and where mom is standing it is outside. There is only the one wall where the wash basin and urinal are hooked up. they did have 3 walls around a toilet next to that. i was using that one when the guy came up and excused himself and "went." He was really cute, so of course, we had to tease mom that she met a cute Frenchman on the trip and had an interesting experience! LOL!

Just got back from the hospital. Mom was asleep and didn't wake when I was talking to her. They got a Gastroenterologist to come in from another hospital (this one doesn't have one) to look at the bleeding issue (ulcer from meds). Her hemoglobin levels are still VERY low, but stable so they are watching that closely. Please keep thoughts and prayers that they go up and her body makes more blood...I don't want her to have to have a transfusion in this hospital. They are tweaking the vent, and she has been at 70% 02 now for 2 days, and the high peak pressure is high, but not as high as it has been (so this is good news). I was able to speak with the Resident on her case now, and she said the next couple of days will be critical as they try to tweak the vent even more. She was beeping a LOT last night, but no beeps today, so that's good. Her BP is high, so now they are having to give her meds for that (I hope I'm not boring you with the technical stuff, but I also want to write about this and my memory isn't too good now! lOL!)

Sooo, it's been a better day so far...I just dread going tonight because it seems that if she is good on one visit, she is horrible on the next. But we didn't think she would make it through the weekend and she did, she is such a trooper!

Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers, and for your contributions to PayPal. The cards were sent to Michael, and he is FedExing those, and more shoes and CD's today, so I should have them tommorrow:-):-):-)

Cynde, no problem with the technical stuff -- there are enough of us out here who sling the lingo and find it interesting, so please do continue to post it.

And that picture is just a hoot! I can almost hear your mom saying "and there he was, plain as day" -- wonderful! :-)

Faith

Cynde, I agree with everyone else so far. Keep posting the details. When my mom was in the hospital, it helped me to write down what had happened & what I had been told by the docs that day.

I love that picture of your mom & the story that goes with it. Great caption Faith. LOL.

Still thinking of and praying for you daily. I don't have any flowers to offer here at work, so more hugs and positive vibes are being sent your way!!

Cynde. I agree with the others here. You are not boring me at all. In fact if you did not tell us what was going on, then I would be worrying myself sick at not knowing. I am glad that today was a better day, and I am hoping that things will now continue to slowly improve. I do love that picture of Velva standing in the urinal. LOL. Continuing to keep you and your family in my thoughts. Annie B.

Hi, Cynde;

What a thing to do when I go on holidays!!!

Sorry, but I have had VERY little time in the past week to do more than check the cams and camchat a couple of times. I saw one message about you and your mom, and decided to find out more today.

I started at the beginning of this entire collection about noon - it's now after 7:00.

This is an unbelievable ordeal for you, Sherry and of course Velva to be going through, not to mention Michael.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers. If there is anything more you need, let us know.

And no matter what - please take care of yourself.

Bill and Karen

Super & Mrs. Turtle

Cynde, give me the updates. I feel more secure hearing what is happening, even when it is not good news than not hearing, and if it is technical then it is, and that's that. You do what you need to do, and if it helps, then definitely do it.

Been thinking of you and your mum all day. Sending you lots of love and healing energy.

Cynde,
I was away for the Easter days, so I'm trying to catch up today. But all weekend my thoughts were with Velva and you and hoping the situation would improve. Sorry to read that it's still very critical.
But I am glad to see all the good support you are getting from everyone.
Still sending lots of healing powers to your direction.

PS... Like Martin... We are curious about your new hairstyle

Cynde,

I have been reading about your ordeal from the beginning and have plucked up courage finally to send you, your sister and your Mum best wishes and good vibes for a full recovery. I didn't feel able to before as I have never met any of you but I having been reading the outpourings of love and affection on this site and I hope you will forgive a newbie for saying hello. Everyone I have spoken to about this thread is blown away by the love and kindness of friends and strangers alike. It certainly restores your faith in human nature.

Hoping it is not too presumptuous but I send you all love and hugs too

Annie P

Annie P., Welcome to the site.....and I know I speak for us all when I say that your words are welcomed and accepted in the spirit they were given! Most of us have never met face to face, but I consider these people some of the best friends I have ever known. I am happy to add you to that list!

Annie P, I think you will find that the vast majority of the people sending hugs to Cynde & her mom, Darlene & Tom, Josie, and everyone else on BT who is currently going through emotionally and/or physically trying times, have never met the people to whom they are sending the hugs. That is the most beautiful thing about BT -- we're a big extended family of total strangers who care about each other a great deal! Our wonderful Elvira, who sent her sweet son Rafa off to meet and help out a total stranger stranded in Puerto Rico, didn't have too many more posts than you when Cynde and her mom first arrived there. So no, I don't think what you offer here is presumptuous at all! It's just as wonderful as the rest of what has been going on here. Welcome to the family!

Faith

Annie P - WELCOME and your hugs and well wishes are very welcome too!!! As everyone has stated we are all one big extended family that only a few have met face to face!!!! Thanks to Jake for having this wonderful site for us to get to know each other!!!!

Annie B - I was thinking the same thing - one more thing for me to confuse!!!LOL!!!

Annie P...welcome, and thanks for the hug! Everyone is right, BT is one big caring and loving community, regardless if we have or haven't met face to face. I've had the pleasure of meeting some BT'ers from Holland, Ohio, Colorado, and other places either when they visit my home town, or on Bonaire.

I'm balling now, but out of joy, and the words in your post, because that is exactly how I feel about this group, they are genuine, and the BEST!!! Elvira was only posting for a couple of weeks when this happened, and her son lives in Puerto Rico, and has been a tremendous help, along with other connections Elvira has (Beatrice) and then Jake, of course, calling the Governor's office at the onset, and making a special 2 day trip through San Juan with his family to deliver hugs in person, and treat me to a nice spa day along with a stuffed donkey from the donkey sanctuary....and Mary Mueller, for sending me wonderful bath spa products and a BT angel, and Martini and Angela for sending a nice big pink flamingo and Bonaire bath salts, all the flowers posted, Dr. Doo's pillows and lucky buckeye nuts and cards, Tom's hand to hold, the many many many prayers and well wishes...and then of course, the repay I will NEVER be able to repay...all of the contributions to Pay Pal...I'm still crying! (listening to Dido doesn't help, she doesn't have "upbeat" music, LOL)!

I'll post last nights update on the new thread my friends:-)

Lost in Puerto Rico,

Cynde

Cynde,

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. I went through a long ICU ordeal with my dad 15 years ago and still remember it like it was yesterday.

One thing we liked to do was read books to him even though he wasn't responding to us. I think studies have show that sedated people can hear. I'm assuming your mom doesn't speak Spanish, so hearing English might be soothing for her.

Sue

PS - very sick people do get moved to different hospitals - don't be shy if you think she can get better care elsewhere.

Hi Sue,

Thanks. We do read to her when she is sleeping, but sometimes reading to her when she is awake agitates her, so it's a touchy line right now.

Believe me, I'm not "shy"...if you backtrack any of these threads, you will see the fight we have been fighting to get things done, including moving her...We have been talking of transport from day one, however, at this point, her condition is so critical that it would be more of a risk to transport her than to keep her where she is...I work with a lot of doctors in the states, and thank goodness I have them to answer my questions and help:-)
