THANK YOU ALL SOOOO MUCH...IT WAS SO MUCH FUN OPENING UP THIS THREAD TONIGHT! I'll post the SF bay boat pics tomorrow as I'm too tired to tinker with them tonight...the weather started out a bit rainy and cloudy and cleared up with a lovely sunset once we got out onto the bay!

Okay, there were very few bay pics that came out well because of the lighting...here I am on our way out...it was very crowded on the boat but we made it out to the bow and found a tiny spot along the rail...a.jpg

I got Alison to take a pic of me headed out of port before she got too cold and went inside for a bit!

After we got out onto the bay we headed under Golden gate bridge where there were lots of brown pelicans but between the rocking of the boat and the movement of the birds I could not catch one that wasn't blurred...
There were only a few boats out but I love this scenesailboat.jpg
and the only other pic that came out clearly was the entrance to Alcatraz! The Indians took it over for a while in 1969 and the remnants of their visit are still there with the sign welcome the inmates to the Penitentiary!
alcatraz.jpg
After we got back to port we headed for Berekley for a great crab dinner at a.jpg, famous for it's great seafood since 1890!!

Barbara, I still have a t-shirt from Alkatraz that i got when I was about 12, our family went the coast up from San Diego one summer! My brother used to live on a boat in Jack London Square for a few years...Michael, Sarah and I used to drive up and spend weekends with him...I love San Francisco!

Pic of Alison is at Pier 39 in SF with Coit tower and Transamerica bldg in background! I'm starting to make a habit of driving back to Sac through the City from the folks house in the South Bay instead of through the valley...SF is so much prettier than the piles of cow dung in Stockton! So, if I time it right the traffic and travel time aren't much different! LOL

barbara I love your pix - you are so nice to think of us while enjoying your birthday boat ride!

woohoo

convicts It's hard for me to fathom Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge as real places when you guys talk about it. To us they are something in a movie - lots of movies, actually. Then when I see the pix you take I'm there.

toast Yeah - life's too short not to take the scenic route, buddies! Here's to you, Birthday Girl!
