Let's take a walk through the woods of the White Mountains of New Hampshire on a beautiful fall day.

Path

The path goes by leaf covered boulders.

Leaves

By a babbling brook.

Brook

To get to this path we first must travel up Rt 93 toward Franconia Notch.

We first must pass through Kancamagus Pass where we stop for a view.

A short walk up the path and we get to Sabbaday Falls, a very popular destination for leaf peepers.

On the way home it is very important that we pay our respects to a dear departed friend, the Old Man.

woohoo Cecil, you have outdone even yourself. Huzzah for the panos. Did you get Photoshop to patch them together or did you do it yourself? I haven't had much luck using the stitchers so far. Did you use a rock or the car roof or a tripod or are you rock-steady? LOL

tree

I'm at my Dadz and I wanna grab my camera and run out and take some pictures from the roof or something. Not much color yet except for the occasional maple. A few red maples are bronzy and some of the sugar maples are getting frosted with orange.

Thank you! Going to show my Dadz when he gets back in here.

Thanks all. I stitched them together in Photoshop. Open all the pictures, select rectangular marque, select the first picture and copy, open a new picture that is big enough for all, click paste, select the move tool to pick up the new picture and move it around, repeat for each picture. Then I zoom in and with the move tool I can get a pretty exact fit. Now comes the fun part, each of the pictures is a layer, select the layer and adjust the brightness, contrast, and color balance to try to match the pictures so the lines between are not visible (hard to impossible to do, white balance is the problem, next time I'll hold the white balance between shots). Once you have them balanced and stitched, merge visible layers (important step), select with rectangular marque, copy, open new and paste. Nothing to it.

Sorry I did not answer one question, no I did not use a tripod nor am I rock steady. I just may sure they overlapped and the horizon was close to the same. I fixed it at home with the above procedure.

Cecil! Thanks so much...what a great idea! It has been along time since I have been up in that area! It is quite a shame about the ole man....
When I was younger ( :-) ) we use to ride up to NH from NY just for the night to see the sunrise in that area...sleep for awhile..and drive back....
Thanks again for the memories!

Thanks Cecil, I'm so busy lately that I really could use a bit of nature in the morning. Very nice pictures! Wish we had more nice forests in our neighborhood...

pod Cecil, you really did a lovely job with the photos and the panos and the storyline. My Dadz says: Superb!

I loved the way the clouds opened up on this one and the trees burst into color!

Cecil, as always your pictures are awesome. Feels like I was there!

Now that I've buttered you up....I need a favor.... my fiance and I are thinking of the Adirondacks for two weeks for a honeymoon (we love camping and hiking). Are there any places near you that you would suggest instead? It looks beautiful there. We want quiet, a small lake where we can canoe, and lots of R and R. I found a few places I like, but nothing is certain. We would also like an outside eating area (picnic table) and a grill. Any help??? Thanks.

Thanks, Cecil! Gorgeous stuff. I "knew" you weren't in New Jersey when I saw the pic of the highway and there were NO other cars on the road! LOL. Beautiful shots, for sure.

Meryl.....remember how we "used" to be able to do stuff like that? Seems like yesterday, doesn't it? We used to pile in the car in NJ and drive up to Cape Cod, sleep on the beach at night and cruise back home the same weekend......couldn't do that now! LOL. Carole

Cecil, checking in I found this thread I missed while I was away. Very very nice trip pics. Thanks!. I was just looking at our pictures of NH from the 60's a few days ago while setting up a scanner at my mom's. I'll send you one later... N.
