(From Jim) Boy what a pain for me, I was in the hospital for 3 months in Tampa General! I had a bad bruise (to head) and my left arm is bad (95 per cent shambdled) but is so far OK.

(From Cindy) what a long 3 months!!! Jim's really doing great, even though he doesn't believe it. He'll be starting out-patient rehab next thursday and will go 3 days a week. Has to go back to Tampa for consults with the ortho & eye doctors in 2 weeks. He has pretty good movement in the left arm from the elbow down & is doing a good job using the left hand (including emails). He picked up on the computer immediately. We think they'll recommend a total shoulder replacement as the bone was destroyed and some muscle tissue was lost.

He has some damage to a couple of optical nerves which causes him to see things at a 45 degree angle with the left eye, so he's wearing an eye patch (told him he looks like a pirate). His memory is getting better (both short and long term), but he has trouble remembering names of new people. He also can't find the right words so he substitutes or makes up new words. But he's getting better.

He finally got a hair cut this afternoon, so he's happy. We've gone grocery shopping a couple of times and he's walking twice a day (not far as his balance is still a little off) He also washed the lunch dishes today & helped me with dinner. Not bad for being home only 2 1/2 days.

He started talking on 8/4 & I swear he hasn't stopped yet. LOL very different from the quiet Jim we know. The original discharge date was 9/12, but he improved so fast they sent him home 8/28. On the whole, he's doing great and he's so happy to be home & sleeping in his own bed (without any nurses waking him for blood pressure and pills).

If anyone wants to email him it's rocks57@tampabay.rr.com. Please let him know you're a BT'r. He thought it was "so cool" to get the cards from people he doesn't even know. I'll try to post some pics. not sure about the size yet.

thanks to all of you for your prayers and support.
Cindy & Jim

Very good news! Seems like august 28 was a good day for more people besides Jos (day that Alexander was born!). Hope the progress will even go quicker now!
