Welcome back, Annie, you were missed.

Can you believe it that stupid grey squirrel was trapped by the feeder again. UFB. I afraid he may have a hearing problem now. I banged on the side a few minutes before I let him out. Hopefully he'll think twice before he plays with the feeder again. I may also have to do some engineering.

Well it looks like I'll have to live on less money but more BT. On that note look what I just caught in the garden (no it was not a squirrel in the feeder, again).

Moth1

Moth2

Not sure the species, a Lunar Moth comes to mind. Very pretty moth.

Good morning everyone!!!
Cecil great shot of that creature - we have several that live in my gardens and have not been able to identify them.
Below is a picture of my oldest holding the largest fish that was caught during out vacation on the coast of NC (Topsail Island).
alexfish.jpg
Would love to be there right now except that it has been raining since we left.
I think we are starting to mold here in NC. Last summer we had no rain - this summer we are about to build an ark. At least it has been mild with the temps - only a dew days in the 90's.

Now you have a squirrel with a hearing problem . Hope it does learn from the experience...

Brittany, I think you need some kind of photo editing software, in which you can convert the image into JPEG. After that you do the same as in the webcam section. And it need to be less then 50 kb. I use Photoshop and with my digital camera the images are already in jpg format.
Hope it helps a bit...

I am limited on the pictures that I have on my computer - my husband has them all on our home computer and I only have those that he mails on my laptop. I will add one once I get all of the pics.
Cecil - I love your squirrel story. My husband has been fighting squirrels in his bird feeders for years - but none have every gotten stuck in one. I did get him the bird feeder called the "Yankee Flipper" for father's day last year. You should try that one - It spins the squirrels around when they get on the feeder - it is the funniest thing to watch!!!

Mary, nice picture of your son, you, and family. My stepson will be 15 in October...he was with us the whole summer and just went back to Arizona...and yes, he is VERY anxious to get his permit!

I got a pic from the Marine Biologist in charge of our kelp project...here is what she said about our babies (baby kelp that is):

"Our kelp is doing well. Look how well it fits right in, like its been there all it's life."

Brings tears to your eyes doesn't it? Here is the pic that was attached...photo by Tom Caruso, www.PhotoCaruso.com.

For those of you that are new, to CC, here is what the kelp looked like a year ago when we attached the babies to the substrait!

OK, try this:

While sitting at your desk, make clockwise circles with your right foot.

While doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right hand.

What direction is your foot going now?

hummer Cecil, were you following me again? My Dadz and I went up to the Greenfield area today and stopped at Northfield Mountain which is a huge Northeast power switching/storage station and the sponsor of our eagle cam. We drove by Barton's Cove where the nest is located, too.

eagle

Here's the freaky-deaky part: we were checking out a perennial bed and there were a half dozen hummingbird moths on the purple bee balm. My Dadz took at least a dozen pix.

There are two of these interesting moths around this time of year in the East. When I was naturalist at the museum I'd get a couple calls a day this time of year from people inquiring about the baby hummingbirds in their gardens. 99% of them were bumblebee or hummingbird moths.

hum um

Why do hummingbirds hum??

Hi All,
Cynde, LOL, with the foot/hand trick. MMM strange the things your brain can do without you knowing it!

At work I could not get connected to BT this afternoon. When at home we decided not to cook, it is to hot here and go out for dinner. But, I guess all the people at the beach decided the same, so it was very crowded in the restaurants over here.

Almost time to try to get some sleep, but it will be hard. No A/C or small breeze coming through the window.

Tomorrow my dad will be in surgery for prostate cancer. In an early stage, a routine surgery they say. But, still I'm a bit worried. He is 70 years, in good health. After work I go to Tilburg, to accompany my mom and visit dad at the hospital if things go right. Probably I will peek in during the day and then until friday. Or.. maybe I can take a look at the sunsets at my dads 'puter... Anyway post some nice sunsets for me later. I think I need them for tomorrow morning.

Rusty. Yes I did snorkel. I was still nervous but once I saw the fishes I just swam after them. I saw trumpet fish, and everyone thought I was mad when I jumped up and shouted out that I had seen Satchmo, LOL. There was a massive school of chub too, some were really big. I saw a beautiful coloured fish, all the colours of the rainbow with a lovely blue head. Darren tried to take some pics under the water but don't know if they will be any good. There were sooooooo many fish that I could not ID. Oh, and there was an orange thing which looked like a sea slug or something. Annie B.

Annie The fish are so compelling that after a few minutes there's nothing on your mind but them. Snorkelling in a pool for practice is much harder, I think! I'm jealous of all the fishies you saw - a rainbow of living color.

snork2 When my friend Wenda and I snorkel in FLA we always start laughing with our faces in the water and it's funny to hear giggles burbling up thru the tube. :-) When we get out people always mention how funny we sound.

Yeah, Cecil, I've only seen the bumblebee moths one time - in my Dadz wildflower garden years ago - but the hummingbird moths do come to our bee balm every couple of years. We were hypnotized watching them today. Did they seem very calm about the human company?

Oh Cecil - for you. Dadz took this today in downtown metropolitan Gill MA. This is the town that your eagle nest/cam is located in. This is the town hall in the mirror - 1793 - and the Congregational church - 1797.

Nice frogs Rusty. Glad they were able to survive your winter.

Cecil. It will take some time to get the pics sorted, but if they come out ok I shall post some. Hopefully the pictures will jog my memory too. Annie B.

I really gotta go to bed now. Can't keep my eyes open any more. See you guys tomorrow sometime.
