Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growes
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this and this gives life to thee.

Have a great day all!
Sarah

Annie, I think Sarah was talking about her profile-picture. The sonnet is from a very famous fellow countryman of yours :-) (u know, the one who made Juliet famous)
If William would have written that, he would be rich!

Bon Dia all. I got a CD from Martine yesterday it was a fabulous video of our Bonaire trip. Great job Jean Paul.

Well I need some assistance from my BT buddies (especially Rusty, hope your around today). Here's what I got.

Top

Side

It's like a blank slate, it cries for a pond and plants. This is where a pool used to be. The first picture is looking down from the deck so what ever goes there must look good from above. I'm thinking waterfall, stream, shallow pond (something you can put your feet in), rapids and pool going left to right in the side view. No problems digging. Standard budgetary constraints apply (ie it needs to be free or very close).

It is interesting how many of us have tuxedo cats. Dr Doolittle posted a picture of his a while back and the one that lives with us has the 3rd toe on all 4 feet black. That's why she is called TC or "Toesie Cat".

yawn I'm just waking up here. Sleepy morning - kind of cool and overcast. It was Princess' fault - she climbed up next to me and started snoring at 7 am. She's more potent than Seconal - I fell right back to sleep!

Cecil - that is a GREAT spot. Looks like it will get nice sunshine and be a real showplace as soon as you get it in the ground. Then it'll only get prettier as time passes and the flowers and critters flourish.

You'll need to buy liner, tho and a pump, if you want a waterfall, babbling brook layout. The best I can do for starters is to repost the pix we took (polaroid, so they suck, kind of) the first weeks after we dug ours. The pond is shelved - almost waist deep by the waterfall, mid-thigh at the far end. We drop the pots into the deep end for the winter. The stream is about twelve feet long and the upper pond is barely a foot deep and not big around. All it has to do is catch the water pouring in from the pump sunk in the deep end of the big pond.

We ordered the liner and pump from thatfishplace online but then found the stuff cheaper and on sale at Agway.

I've found that Bugle and Pennywort grow and thrive and can ring the entire pond in a year or two if you keep moving the babies around to the empty spots.

Morning all, and thank you Sarah for thinking of me! I must have been in "creative/crazy" mode yesterday!

Cecil, I think that Rusty and Annie can help you out:-) sept I don't think they will come and do the diggin':-)

Tough day for me today...our Medical Editor is still in the hospital, and I'm afraid not doing well. I was told by one of our other docs to go see him today and not wait until Monday...so I am driving up to LA Cedars Medical Center this morning to spend some time with my mentor of writing:-) Maybe I should write or find a sonet to give to him...anyone know of any good sonet writers for mentors????

Ok, must get ready to pop into the office first:-(

Diana, I haven't had time to put together some links, but I will this weekend:-)

digging Cecil - the cool thing is that the dirt (soil) from the hole - makes up the ramp for the stream and you're only limited by the length of the liner you get for the stream. You can overlap two pieces and seal them, too, with aquarium sealant or fish-safe goop. If you want the liner sizes - we can help with that. We dug ours in a day or so and had the whole thing put together and filled in a weekend.

heart Cynde - my thoughts go out to you today, and to your mentor. My life has been so much better thanks to three folks who took the time and energy to guide me along the way.

monet BoxerBob just checked out Cecil's pix and went green with envy. :-) He immediately said that with that small rise to the left and the large open space he would put two large ponds, one slightly higher than the other with a fifteen foot stream between, with a Monet-type bridge. The liners are really tough and should last you a long, long time, as long as you cover the edges to protect from UV.

Cecil. You could put a nice garden arbour out there to sit in and watch the beauty of the garden flourish. This site gave me some ideas when I did my garden. You may find it helpful. The hardest part is getting started. Annie B.

byebye See ya, Igor! Have a great weekend.

rock One other thought on gardening in New England - plenty of FREE ROCKS most places. We just drove to the Westfield River where it's shallow and collected a station wagon full of flat rocks.

These were taken in early June - the Bugle is indigo and surrounds most of the pond now - all from six little plants. This is the third year of the pond and stream.

If your mentor is as important to you as you mentioned I am sure you will find the right words when the time comes .
Don't be to "shy" to express them , there might not be a second change. And if there will be , at least you've said them.
good luck on it.
