We will be in Aruba from 8/17 to 8/25. Would like to fly over to Bonaire and spend a day snorkeling, then back to Aruba. Would like any suggestions or recommendations on flights, costs and day trip.

Rich y Judy -

I believe your only option would be to fly with DCA (Dutch Caribbean Express). Do be advised that their service is, to put it diplomatically, not the most dependable. (Do a keyword search at the bottom of this page on "DCA" and you'll quickly get the idea.)

Bonaire is quite different from Aruba in that it is relatively undeveloped, uncrowded and a bit sleepy. No big resorts, no large casinos, shopping is minimal, no golf courses, and no active night life.

Most folks go their for the diving/snorkeling. It is a serious contender for some of the best marine experiences in the world. If you did not want to hassle with bringing your dive gear for just one day, you could always rent snorkeling gear from one of many dive shops.

Regardless, we hope you work it out and if you like diving/snorkeling, you're going to plan all of your next trip to Bonaire.

Let us know how it works out.

For all the Bonaire lovers that populate this message board, the answer is simple. Skip Aruba and come to Bonaire for the entire time.

But, if you can only come here for the day, check out the guided snorkel tour at this website. I have heard great things about it and plan to use them this October when we return to Bonaire for our second visit. www.woodwindcharters.com

Good luck.

Bill

Checked the fllights on DCA, would arrive around Noon and have to leave at 5 PM. Not enough time. Guess we will have to plan another trip.
