Hello all!
As some of you know, we usually end up taking a hopper to and from Curacao for our vacation to Bonaire. We would like to know if any of you have used that time in Curacao to go snorkeling and if you could recommend a hotel that is close to good snorkeling. Or is it like Bonaire, where no matter where you put in, it's awesome. THANKS for any help!
Gretchen

Quality of snorkelling is much higher on Bonaire.
In diversity, colours, quantity of fish, Bonaire leaves Curacao far behind.

A link to dive/snorkel sites with rating.

I liked Porto Marie.
There is a bar/restaurant, sandy beach, stretchers and a shower.
You will need a car to get there.
It has a double reef. And it has an experiment with an artificial reef: Reefballs.
Its nice to snorkel to the West, have a short stop at the next beach: Playa Hunku.

Willemstad is a very nice city. Beaches are beautiful, especially near Westpunt.
When you are in Willemstad, you might consider eating in the Old market (Marsha bieu).
You eat with the locals for less then $ 10 each.
Open until 15:00. Closed on Sunday.

An local alternative is Jaanchi’s near Westpoint. The restaurant exists more then 60 years. The present owner took over from his father in the sixties and is a talking menu.

Of course you could also try the Indonesian cuisine.

My husband (this is his account...) and I have done this twice. We stay at the Lodge Kura Hulanda in Westpunt (http://www.kurahulanda.com/lodge). We've seen two turtles in one day just off of their house beach, Playa Kalki. Other beaches we've been to were good too (although not as good as Bonaire - of course!).
