I am doing a lot of swimming in Bonaire in December but was naturally worried about the presence of Jet skis.

Does Bonaire allow jet skis in the Marine Park ? Thanks.

Hi Bruce & welcome to BT! Unfortunately jet skis are not prohibited on Bonaire. Although if I had my way they would be.
At any rate when I was down about a month ago, the only jet skier I saw was way out in the blue water. And that's exactly where they belong. You really should not have any problems.

Bruce welcome to BT. I think the deal is that you can own a jet ski, but you can not rent one. Also the marine park rules require no wake in the shallows. You'll see when you get there, it is not a big deal and you will be quite safe. The biggest danger is your skin turning all pruney.

When I was there this past August, there were quite a few jet skis coming from Plaza area and going right to shore at Bachelor's Beach area, was pretty scary as we were diving and not quite sure when they planned to zoom in and out again. You can hear a hummmm underwater, but swimming, they should be able to see you and avoid your area.

Some of you obviously do not watch the water as much as I do!
jet skis regularly do high speed turns inside the light blue area between the town peer and Karel's pier, regardless of the swimmers that are there. I even saw one regularly who obviously knew the children who were swimming in the area and still did a high speed turn AROUND several children before going fast around the pier close enough that he could not have seen if there were swimmers the other side.
Last week I also saw one (different I think) doing regular fast runs into the area in front of Divi, well within the light blue & certainly much closer in than I usually snorkel.
there are often two racing close to Donkey beach as well.
if there are any laws, unfortunately no-one seems to be enforcing them, that couldn't be because it's locals riding them, so I wonder why??

What Michael said. I call the park whenever I see any improper water activity, be it jet skis, boats, or spearfishers.
