I will be vacationing in Curacao in August but have decided to take a day trip to Bonaire for snorkeling. I am scheduled to meet Renee at 12:30 but would like to visit Klein Bonaire on a guided snorkeling tour in the morning. I have checked out the Woodwind and it returns too late. I was told that Mushi Mushi has 3 hour tours but have not heard back from them. Are there any other options that would get me back in time to meet Renee? I don't want to change my time with Renee because I have a 5:45 PM plane to catch back to Curacao. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to BT, Jay. Just take the water taxi over to the Klein. I belive it leaves from the dock in front of City Cafe. They are on your schedule. Just take lots of water and sunblock, there is not any shade.

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, that does seem like a good option but what about any guided tours...would feel a bit more comfortable with a guided tour since I've never been there and I'm not sure about currents, etc. That would be more of an ideal situation.

Well what you do at the Klein is walk to the left from where the ferry drops you off at a ramshackled shelter. Walk maybe 200 yards while watching the reef to the left at the shoreline. You will see an opening in the reef, swim out through the hole and now you will drift back to the starting point with a coral wall on your left. Get a drink of water, repeat, as needed.

We showed up for the water taxi at It Rains Fishes last week and it wasn’t running due to some engine trouble. We checked around for an alternative and were told about trips available off the dock at Karel’s. We just did the standard drift to No Name (then back and forth one more time under our own power), but the Captain said he can take you anywhere you want to go, arrange for sightings of baby turtles and such. Our bags (for gear and lunch) were waiting for us at the hut – as he said they would be, and he was there to pick us up on time. About all you can ask for.

This sounds like a good option. Does the Captain's water taxi run on a specific schedule? Does anyone know how I would contact him? Does he work for Karel's or is he an independent person running the water taxi? What is his name?
