Hi, for my mum's 50th birthday, she would like to go for a family holiday. As I've travelled most extensively in our family I'm being looked to to find somewhere amazing to go! I've seen an awful lot of good reviews about Bonaire and I'm hoping for some input.
Is September a good time of year to go? Will we (as novices at snorkeling) encounter any jellyfish problems? I've been trying to find if there's any specific 'jellyfish season'. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Eleanor welcome to BT. Bonaire is a great place to go especially in September, rarely do hurrricanes stray so far south. Jellies are fairly rare here but a thin skin wetsuit would be a safe option to protect from the odd stinger and more importantly the sun.

Our family just returned and felt September was a great time. Locals and resort condo owners were saying the same. A couple restaurants took breaks and were reopening, or just closing for a week or two.
Low wind, good snorkel visibility while we were there... seeing straight down 25 feet to watch a sharptailed eel weave around, peacock flounder floundering, and parrot fish galore!
Mosquitos weren't bad for us. There was NO rain, but there were clouds to provide a respite from the very direct rays.
Nothing was crowded. Streets were lightly traveled. Dive operator staff were relaxed and very helpful.
I cannot think of one thing that was a negative for September for us. Go for it!!!
