Hi my mom and I will be in Bonaire next week :-) and staying at the Divi. We are snorkelers not divers. Do you have to pay the park fee to snorkel anywhere on Bonaire? Where do you pay it at?

Thanks
Jen

Yes, the Marine Park tags are for divers and for snorkelers. You can pay for yours at the dive shop right at the Divi. It will also gain you free access into the National Park as well. :-)

Yes, but the fee for snorkelers is less than the fee for divers. I believe it's $10 per person for snorkelers, though if you're inclined to support the Marine Park they aren't averse to selling you a divers tag. :-)

I don't know how Divi does it, but I imagine it's the same as at Habitat: you buy the tag at the dive shop.

Here's more information: Nature Fee Brochure

You can also purchase the dive tags at the front desk of the Divi :-). Have a wonderful trip.

RosAnne,

How does the front desk know if the diver has gone through Marine Park orientation? As far as I've ever known, that was required *before* getting the tag.

On a related question: do snorkelers have to do an orientation as well? Since part of the orientation details the rules of the Marine Park (among other things, "no collecting", "no touching", "no gloves"), how is this information imparted to snorkelers if not?

Susan, you do not need an orientation course.
We got our non-divers tags at the slagbaai entrance without any hassle. (actually snorkeled the first day without one, being unaware that it was needed, we only discovered this when wanting to go to slagbaai).
