Is it necessary to get a guide to snorkel the caverns that are advertised on the numerous resort sites?

I was just wondering if someone has done these snorkels on their own and if so I was hoping for some guidance. Thanks in advance!

Hi Ryan And Welcome to BT

My husband & I did the cave/snorkel 2 years ago and had a great time. You do have to go with a guide & it is advisable to go with one. For one, the accessible caves would be very difficult to find on your own & another factor is once you're in the cave(s) knowing where it's safe to go. The guides have to be certified and share their knowledge with you. We did 2 caves - the first one was a dry cave and was very hot. We couldn't go too far into the cave but it was interesting to see. The second cave is where we snorkeled. It was quite an experience & I would definitely do it again. Don't wear any good clothing as you're literally climbing up & down a ladder and also using a rope to hoist yourself up & down into & out of the snorkel cave. Make sure you take an underwater camera.
We booked through The Plaza Resort (where we were staying).
I hope this helps.
Happy spelunking!

Welcome to BT Ryan.......my wife and I did two years ago what seems exactly like Judy and hers did. We booked with Outdoor Bonaire, the fellow's name is Hans, I believe. You can find a link to Outdoor Bonaire at the infobonaire website.
