We will be in Aruba for 2 weeks and I have a sea doo scooter to snorkle there. Sometime the current picks up and I go out pretty far. This battery operated scooter will run for 2 hours pulling you about 2 mph if you don't kick your fins. I did't know if it would be worth bringing it to Bonaire for 1 week. We only snorkle. Staying at the Divi. We are set up to go around with Renne snorkling for the week but I heard she broke her ankle. I e-mailed her to see if she will still be able to take us around. She has not e-mailed me yet. Any suggestions on bringing the sea doo or what to do on the snorkling? Kent

Kent, bring it....I got the chance to do a dive with one last year on Bonaire and it was a hoot. My stepson snorkeled with it at Eden beach and had a ball with it. I wouldn't go out past the light blue water with it because that's where the boat traffic is, and you could get hit. But to scoot up and down the coast would be a hoot!

Heck if you watch for boats you might be able to get to Klein and back with it! Come to think of it take a safety sausage with a flag on the end if you go to Klein.

Check out the Woodwind for a day of sailing and snorkeling Kent:-)

Kent, if Renee can't go, you might ask Dee or Ulf who operate the Woodwind if they would be interested...come to think of it WHERE IS DARLENE when you need her!

Thanks Cyn. I just printed out all the times and trips to the Woodwind and that looks great. Renee just said that she would take us to the good snorkle spots from land. We might have to rent a jeep for a day or two. I seen where the Woodwind will take you up to the park one day to snorkle. How far is some of the other great snorkle spots from Divi?

Playa Cha Cha is just North of Divi, then there is town. If you go South of Divi, you could go as far as you could swim and have a great snorkel. If you do rent a vehicle, I'd spend the morning or afternoon snorkeling over at Sorobon, Renee is a great tour guide there.

We need to get Darlene in here because she is the "master snorkeler" and will know all the great spots to point you to!

Cyn, You are doing just fine! :-)
Kent, You are going to love snorkeling in Bonaire!! There is lots to see. The snorkeling is great at many of the Dive sites. Choosing to go with Renee is one of the best things you could have done. She is great and she know where all the little critters live. When I am in Bonaire I don't rent a car and I split my morning between guided snorkels with Renee and doing the sail and snorkel trips with the Woodwind. The Woodwind does not go to the Park unless there is a change that I don't know about. She usually sails over to Kline for a drift snorkel where you are most likely to see turtles and Queen angels as well as many other species. Then they sail over to Andrea I, II, Pietre's Pillar or Small Wall. My afternoons are spent snorkeling between Carib Inn all the way to the first town pier. There is a lot of fish life in the cement pier at the Divi. Don't forget to go in the real shallows for lots of cool stuff! There is also a little sunken boat just to the right at the end of the pier as you look to deep water. Check out my trip reports for all that I have seen while snorkeling. I think I see more than divers sometimes. As far as your sea doo, I don't think it is needed but it sure sounds like a heck of a lot of fun!!!
If you have any more questions, I will try to help.
As far as land goes, it is a beautiful, short walk to town and many of the nice restaurants! If you want to site see you could always do a one day tour and see many of the highlights of the island.

Thanks alot!! I will stick to Renee and Woodwinds and the Divi. That sounds Fantastic. We are use to snorkling Aruba. Somebody told me that it is 3 or 4 times clearer water and more fish on Bonaire so I can't wait!!! Thanks again. Kent

I felt there was no comparison between Aruba and Bonaire either on top or under the water. Bonaire is for Diving and Snorkeling. Aruba is more for beach and gambling and partying.
More fish to see in Bonaire.
