Does anyone have any suggestion for a good snorkel spot on the northern extent of the island? First I read Playa Benge is the best--then I read no, it's ruined and damaged. Then I read Wayakaya is the best.

Old Blue, Country Garden,
Small Wall, Andrea 1 and II, Petrie's pillar are all great sites. I have read that Oil Slick and Karpat are good but I haven't been to them.
Have you considered a guided snorkel? Renee of www.reneesnorkeltrips.com does great guided snorkels. She knows where all the little creatures hide and all the easy entries. Her prices are very reasonable.

Rick,

Try Andrea 1 and II, very easy snorkel, then Thousand Steps, Oil Slick is kinda a deep snorkel, so keep that in mind, but o.k., I like diving that one better, then go to Karpata: go to your left and go all the way down around the bend and you will see all sorts of things, then just drift snorkel easy back to the concrete slab. I found the snorkeling at the park not worth it IMHO, but Wayakaya has the best. There is Wayakaya 1 and II, it was a great spot to stop and have lunch after driving around the park all morning. Ole Blue is o.k as it is an easy snorkel as well with easy entry points, usually lots of bonefish there.

Also, the book Shore Diving Made Easy that Sue Porter just updated is great for snorkeling as well. She describes all the entries, conditions and what to expect at each site. It is really a must have when in Bonaire!

If you are snorkeling at Ol Blue head south to Country Garden. I like diving it from shore, I feel it has more to offer in the shallows.

Both,
It can be ordered through Susan Taft here in the states or it can be found at the dive shops in Bonaire. Do a search on this board for Sue Taft and email her through her profile. That is how I got mine.

Rick, The book is readily available on Bonaire at a variety of dive shops and Chat and Browse. You can also order a copy by contacting me through this board as I take care of orders outside of Bonaire for Susan Porter.
