Hi, i will be in Bonaire for 5 days in May. Please can you tell me how much it costs to hire snorkel gear per session/per day. If its quite pricey it may be better to bring my own gear. I am staying at Harbour Village so does anyone know if they offer free hire ?

Thanks

Hi Indra,
Welcome to Bonaire Talk.
For the best fit on a mask, it is best to buy your own. Rental gear just might be too generic to fit your individual face well. My personal preference is to buy my own snorkel since it will be in my mouth the entire time I am snorkeling. As for fins and booties, if you have 'common feet' that is, a foot that can fit into standard shoe sizes, rent the gear. I have very short and very wide feet with a high instep, (duck feet to some, Quack!) I bought my own booties and fins. The most important feature is comfort: you don't want to end your lovely snorkeling experience early because your feet hurt.
And, if you do plan to snorkel from some of the dive sites, booties are a must because of the coral rubble and iron shore in most locations.
As for your question as to what Harbor Village does/does not rent, it is best to contact them directly.

Mare

Bring your own. The selection is probably actually going to be better in your home location than on Bonaire at any given time; and do you want to spend a day of your vacation hunting down rental equipment?

Agree with Mare's advice about the booties!

Indra, I agree it is best to bring your own mask and snorkel....you definitely don't want to use someone else's mouthpiece no matter how many times it has been "cleaned". The rest is easy to pick up once you are on Bonaire.

Have a great time! You are in for the treat of your life. The snorkeling is absolutely fabulous. You will want to plan your return trip after day One on this trip....guaranteed! Carole
