I saw this below at a site saying we must pay fee. I am bit confused? I thought this was implying to snorkel most places I ahve to ahve paid a fee some place. Am I confusing this with Washington slaagbai Park? The Marine Park extends from the high water mark to the 60 m (200 ft) depth contour, encompassing the entire coast of Bonaire and Klein Bonaire - an area of about 2700 hectares, including coral reef, sea grass, and mangroves

Hi Chis,

As best as I know there is no fee required to snorkel on Bonaire. Exceptions are, if you want to think of them as snorkeling fees, the entrance fee to Washington park and the fee Capt Don charges for non-guest to use his dock. I suspect that what you are referring to is the fee that divers have to pay, a once per year $10 permit that is required to dive anywhere on Bonaire. Unless things have changed, it is not required for snorkelers. The fee goes to help the park and while not required, it would be nice if snorkelers did buy it just to help the park with it's operating budget. Besides, you get a cool tag, you should see my collection.

Chris, Herman is exactly right. I always buy a tag just because I want to support the marine park but it is not required for snorkelers. I buy one every trip even though I take two trips in the same year. Besides, that's the only way I know what number trip that I am on and I have them tied on my gear bag! :-)

As of 4/1/05, the snorkeling fee or nature fee is $10.00 per year. The diving fee will go up to $25.00 per year.
