I am having our Bonaire residence painted. Has anyone ever matched paint in the states to Krioyo paints? We arent in Bonaire to select colors and would like to get it painted before our next visit. I have emailed Krioyo but not heard back. Wasnt sure if samples in the states could be scanned then emailed and if the resolution was accurate or if Krioyo could match specifically to a particular U.S. company or brand.

No-I wouldn't count on that happening. You have to take a sample to them, they match it & make it (this can take a few days, longer if they're out of the base paint they need). I've found their matches to be pretty good-but it's not like they have the chips (codes) from Behr, Sherwin Wm, etc., to match themselves. You could mail your paint samples to your painter here & let him take them to Krioyo. Every time I go to the US I take a bunch of sample chips from Home Depot to keep handy, since I don't want to choose from Krioyo's selection. Also keep in mind that the finishes are different (for example, I've found there's no equivalent to "High Gloss."

Thanks Ruth! I'll have to agree with your last statement. It seems to be a little tricky. I think we will wait to arrive and choose while we are there. I guess that means we have to come back again to see the completed job.

To avoid any surprises, stick with white! However, I have found Krioyo does a good job of matching samples but you also have to consider what material you are painting or old color you are covering. I suggest you have them make up a quart of your sample choice when you are here and slap a few feet on the wall and see what it looks like

I decided to repaint my front wall last year.....gave the contractor the name and color of the paint I've always used. It came back from Krioyo the same color, but MUCH darker. So then I had to paint my whole house over, because otherwise nothing would match. As Michael and Ruth say, unless you're sticking with basic white, be sure you're here when it's done.

Thanks for the heads up. We've decided to hold off till we arrive. I will probably do it myself. Its not a big job at all. Just a couple of walls over top of white.

I've found the rollers & brushes to be pretty good-supplies as usual can be limited, and different than what you may be used to (as is the paint itself, which can be a frosting-like texture; the local brushes work best with that type-it's impossible to roll). When I paint, I use really high quality brushes that I've brought down from the US. I keep my own stock of 1" to 4" straight & slant, and all sizes in between. I hate not having the right tool. The people at Krioyo can advise you best depending upon the type of paint you purchase.

I painted my whole house inside and out found painting supplies to be plentiful and resonably priced but actual paint was not so plentiful that being said I did find enough...Rainbow paint, kooyeman and bomerang hardware all had paint, supplies and ability to mix and match colors with modern equipment
