According to DEZA,to apply for a work permit it must be paid a handling fee but it does not specify who is supposed to pay for that if the employer or the employee so please I need to know that because I am calculating a tentative budget and need to know an approximated of how much money I have to take with me in order to look for a job on the island, thanks so much in advance for always helping.

Hi Victor,

The sponsoring company normally pays for the fee for the application of a work permit/residency for any potential staff member. However, there is a second fee, which is the money roughly equivalent to a one-way ticket home, which is a bond that the government holds as long as you live here, in case they wish to deport you. In many cases, that bond is paid by the staff member, although in rare cases, the company may pick up the tab.

You should also be aware that you cannot be on island at the time when you are being considered for residency.

Hope this helps.

Susan

Victor,

It depends on who you are going to work for. The "Sponsor / werkgever" should pay both fee's. In reality for someone to get work they will have to agree that they will deduct all these charges from future pay. In some case you'll have to pay them all yourself up front. the amount will vary for the length of the permit you apply for (Nafl 350.00 to 750.00) amd the price of an one way ticket to your country of origin ("Borg") To get your Borg back you need the original receipt of the ontvanger even if it is more than ten years ago that it was deposited.
