My husband and I were hoping on a long term plan to move to the island, but what we've been reading seems discouraging for the non-Dutch and the non-retired. As it is, we'd like to work there, but aren't clear from what we read if we'd be allowed to.

1) Can we set up a business on the island? Do we have to hire a certain amount of locals?

2) I am training to be a "skilled" chef with a Red Seal certificate, aka Master chef etc. Is that still unskilled and would anyone know? It shows 2 years of school and 5 years at least of work experience and a test of knowledge, and is recognised by hotels internationally.

3) My husband is a "tech guy" in wireless, but may be able to retrain. What would be useful for him to retrain as?

4) What is the easiest way to get residency? Is it easier to try and be a citizen of another NA island first?

Sorry, we just really want to make this work but we're really not rich enough to retire on the island. we're planning on 3-5 years to get our ducks in a row. Thanks!
