Hi- I'm sure there are plety of threads on this topic, but we are considering buying a house at Terra Cora... are these rentable? Is this more a short-term or long-term rental? We are looking for something we can visit once a year and rent out the rest of the time. What do you all think?

Hi Karly & congrats on your financial planning on thinking ahead. The real experts on this would be the local realtors on island so my initial advice would be to question them.

Personally I'd think a stand alone house unless it's waterfront property would probably rent out via a long term rental. There are exceptions to this especially in the high end market on Bonaire..You'll have to "crunch the numbers" to see if the potential investment makes sense to you using an assumed rate of growth on the house & rental income minus expenses for a net return.

What I personally like about the condo concept is that you always have neighbors next store & have others to share in the expenses of general property maintenance. Look at both, do your due diligence & then make an intelligent decision.
