Hi,

Can anyone provide me with information or does anyone have experience with house-sitting?

I'd like to know what kind of things you have to take into consideration before one takes the job.

What can one expect in terms of bills (what is normally paid by the sitter and what is paid by the house-owner) and what about liability? Do standard agreement-forms exist?

Thanx

We regularly use house sitters to watch our house when we are off-island, but in every case they are people we know well because they are friends of ours. We cover all house-related expenses - the only things our house sitters need to pay for is their own food and gas (at the point they have decided that what we have left behind is no longer to their liking or is running out), as well as "pay" attention to our pets :-)

No agreements get signed.

I know others have had more formal house sitting arrangement where it becomes more of a rental deal than what I would consider real house sitting.

Basically, I don't think there's any "standard" approach for house sitting, at least not on Bonaire.

Jake
