Hello everyone.

This is Liza. We (my boyfriend,my daughter (8)and our two doggie's (Jack Russell)are coming to Bonaire hopefully this year for two months. We wanted to go three months, but that turned out to be a bit of a problem financially. So probably we won't take the dogs anyway for the short period. I wonder the two months,do we need to rent a place long or short term? Someone said that we had better rent a short term place, and look for a long term place once we get there.
When we are there, we want to try to find a job immediately, and see if we can make a living.
Who has experience with this? Any comments? Any suggestions?

Liza, I am not sure how it works for Dutch citizens, but US Citizens must have a job offer before they land on the island...or be in the process of starting/buying a business. Good luck!

Here's another topic. Telephones. Would a US house phone with the standard US jack work on Bonaire? Will be moving down soon. Need to know what to bring, and what to leave behind, of course. The difference in electricity, the 50 cycles rather than the 60 in the US puts a monkey wrench in the idea of bringing in tools, appliances, etc. I wonder what US tools and such do? Do they just overheat, smoke and melt down, or do they shoot sparks and fireworks before they explode? Any former US residents have any experience with such ? Thanx, El Capitan

JP I moved your post here to a more appropiate topic. Freddie Hughes Co-Moderator
