Hello everyone,

My one year anniversary is up March 1 so I want to ship some used house hold items and furniture down. I will ship to AMCAR and have spoken to Mercy to handle this. BUT, do I need a letter or just my residency papers and to whom do I present to get the duty free on the shipment? It is not a container but boxes and sep. pieces (small delivery). Also are books duty free in this one time deal? Anything else I should know please?

Are you sure the "import-duty free" time limit is still one year for new residents? I thought that had been reduced... As far as I know, anything from your household is covered (read: not new items-stuff you actually lived with) and a vehicle owned more than 6 mos.

Definitely best to check with Customs-rates & regulations have changed a lot over the past few years, and may have even changed for 2005.
