I'm not actually moving to Bonaire, but I'm staying there for four months this winter. Now I realized that this is longer than the maximum stay on a tourist visa. What do I do? We are planning on leaving the island for a while, but is this sufficiant and, in that case, do we need to have made reservations prior to our arrival?

You will have to leave for a short period to restablish a new visa period. However, many times you can just make an appointment with the head of immigration and show him your return ticket etc and he may grant you a waiver...its worth a try.
