Michael --

Enjoyed looking at your photos. Envious of the great sea horse and spotted eagle rays you were fortunate enough to encounter! And great job in getting the pics of them.

That bluish cleaner shrimp is a Pederson's shrimp, and the others were banded coral shrimp (the little brown-striped guys).

Thanks for sharing!

Very cool pics!

You have some pics of Lion fish. Do you know if Bonaire has a program to report and remove them? They non-endemic voracious predators.

Here in Florida the state has a hotline setup to report sightings.

"Divers in the Florida Keys who spot a lionfish are encouraged to take note of the location and call the reporting hotline (305)852-0030. Trained divers may attempt to capture or kill the fish, but are asked to report the sighting and location. Anglers should be careful if they catch a lionfish. If it becomes hooked, the line should be cut releasing the fish into a cooler. No attempt should be made to remove the hook itself since the venomous spines of the lionfish release a toxin that can be extremely painful. If accidentally stung, immerse the wound in hot water and seek immediate medical attention. The 24-hour Aquatic Toxins Hotline at the Florida Poison Information Center in Miami has medical experts on hand and can be reached by calling 1-888-232-8635."

I really enjoyed your pictures, but did lol at the picture of where you spent alot of time picking up tanks. We have spent alot of time at the exact same place. I drive in and back up kind of close and Teddy jumps out and swaps the tanks. Sighhhhhhh Sure makes me miss Bonaire even more.

Dean,

I did report it and marked the site with my snorkel. Only real use for the darn thing! Hopefully, they recovered the lionfish and my snorkel. Then ate one and dropped the other off at Coco Palms for pick up next year.

(Yes, I have the tape and cork now!)

I'm sure you've discovered the name of the crinoid that you said "I'll have to look it up" it's next to the seahorse pictures. This is a black & white Crinoid - I love taking pictures of these, they remind me of a beautiful floral arrangement.
