Hi All,

Debating about bringing my new HD video camera on my dive trip for some land photography. Does anyone know what month of the year is the best for sunny blue skies? Last visit was in late Nov/early Dec and it seemed we had gray skies most of the time. Since Oct-Nov-Dec are said to have the most rain, are these the worst times to go for really sunny, bright blue skies? Thanks a bunch.

Dino

Dino:
From the NY Times World Weather Guide, here's the average number of days with 0.04" (1 mm) of rain in each month at Hato Airport in Curacao (almost identical climate to Bonaire):
Jan 14
Feb 8
Mar 7
Apr 4
May 4
June 7
July 9
August 8
Sept. 6
Oct. 9
Nov. 15
Dec. 16

I suspect that the distribution of cloudiness would mirror the distribution of precipitation. Curacao does get a few more days of rain since it is a bigger island.

The interpretation is avoid late Oct. - Jan. Best months are March - June and surpisingly Sept. I've been to Curacao and Bonaire twice in early - mid June and cloud free skies persist day after day. The winds stay up and it is reasonably pleasant. If you want calm winds or want to dive the wild side, try early Sept. However, it is hot.

Hi Dave,

Wow, thanks a million, a personalized forecast :-)

Think I'll try to make the next trip in May/June. The camera I will use is a Panasonic and it generates the most awesome colors and beautiful blues. The sky and the water should look awesome. And having some great videos to watch may keep my spirits up until I can save up for another trip . . .

Enjoy your next visit too :-)
