Chris, the amount of weight needed depends on what you want your camera to do. I have my camera set to be neutral in case I drop it. It will go to the abiss if negative. If set to possative it will go to the surface. Not good if you are at 60fsw. Trial and error is the only way to set it up. Good luck... Ron

I shoot with a Nikon DSLR in an Ikelite housing with one strobe. NO extra weight in the housing and it is definitely negative.

I have a clip and coiled cord system readily available at your LDS which I clip to my BC and to the housing. It has let me NOT drop the camera. If I am far enough above reef structure I can "drop"the camera to the limit of the attachment (maybe 3-4 feet), do what I need to with my hands, then retrieve the camera. Or I can reclip it close to my BC. Never any worries.

My only caution is NOT to do a giant stride with it unless you are at sea level. Last year I did a GS off Oil Slick at 5-6 feet and somehow it flooded the strobe (camera and housing OK).

....how much does each weigh
...how are they attached to the housing. ...

Chris, there should be a place on the bottom of your housing to connect a tripod. get a strip of lead and dill a hole in it. Bolt the strip to the housing. Then cut the lead strip while in the water till nutral. Then make the weight look nice and wala!!! Ron
