Recently after a Cannon Housing flooded, Tim of Fish-Eye Photo showed Smack and I a couple of often overlooked parts of all Cannon Housings. The first part is the small rubber seat which is located under the hinge and the second part is the vent hole which seals (hopefully) against the seat. Be sure to clean both parts as salt and sand collect behind the hinge and Tim said he feels this is the cause of some leaks.

Rinsing with water doesn't really remove salt, especially in small places including around control shafts and seals. Use a product that chemically removes salt. Salt-X is one that is used by camera repair professionals.

Tom, thanks for the warning. I thought I had been taking all the possible care with my cannon housing, but this was an important information to be taking into account.
