Hubby just got an Olympus Stylus 1030 SW delivered here! It is so sleek and I just can't wait to give it a try in August. He also got the underwater casing for it too. Now, that camera is not big or bulky and looks like even I can handle it. We were at the dive expo in the Meadowlands recently and they had a display of all kinds of neat u/w cameras and that was one of them that was on display there. Does anyone else have this camera? Was wondering how good the pics are when using it?

A very nice choice there Debbie. I'm sure you will be very happy with that camera. I looked at it quickly and opted to get the non-folded optics. No real reason, just a feeling. Anyways there are a bunch of people that have been using that camera and seem very happy with the results. Look here.

Hi Cecil, we got the PT-043 Underwater casing for it, but one question, what are non-folded optics?

It's the flat style of camera. They use a prism to change the path of the light. TMI I know, but they have been around a bit and seem to work very well, so do not let my hang-ups/prejudices deter you.

I also heard good things about the Olympus housings.

Hey Debbie, I've been pining for that setup myself. I don't suppose Greg was able to find a dive shop with the combo package? Nobody seems to have them together, I guess too much profit in selling them separately.

Seb, Gregg ordered them online, got here pretty quick too. Think he got it through Amazon, got free shipping and handling, so no hassles with driving here and there to find camera and housing.

Isn't it fun to get a new U/W camera. I just got the new Bonica video camera. Haven't had a chance to do much but read the instructions yet but am excited to be able to use it when we go to Bonaire in Sept. Thinking about taking a course in U/W video cam so I can get decent video.
Hope you enjoy your new camera and take lots of pictures for us to see.

Andy
