ok...maybe i'm just not understanding the instructions with the camera but when i download to my computer each date is downloaded as a different file folder. the "auto create" is off. should it be off? i would rather take a thousand pics over the next three months and download them to one file on my computer instead of having to move pics into one file from the individual files like i have now.

any hints or suggestions?

One thing to try, after you connect your camera and run the load software, look on My Computer and see if there is an external drive. If so look in that drive which should be your camera memory card. You might be able to just copy the pictures directly instead of using the upload software.

i suppose the easiest way to achieve all pictures in one folder is to set the camera to name pictures sequentially and NOT reset the sequence number when the memory stick is cleared or exchanged. that may or may not be an option with a particular camera.

i use date but then get in trouble because after the first upload on a given day the second set of pictures are named the same way - i have to import those differently.

the best approach, maybe like cecil suggested is to understand the stick is a mass memory device with a file/folder structure that is similar to what is on the windows computer and work it that way...

when we upgraded to active directory at work it "broke" the autoplay functionality of cameras and memory sticks - talk about a mess trying to explain that to everyone that had become dependent on the camera wizard

oh well,

good luck!

thanks....i'll start taking bonaire pics in a few days but it won't be till the end of april when i'll download them. my son has some ideas too so i'm sure when i combine his advice with what i've gotten from bob and cecil i'll be fine. but i'll also be checking email on bonaire a few times a week so if anyone else has any hints i'd be glad to hear them.

Hey Pat,
In the future consider this item seen here, I enjoyed it's functionality:
http://www.digitalfoci.com/picture_porter_elite.html

I used it on my last BON trip and every night I uploaded the images to preview on the TV and best of all once home uploaded straight to the PC. It worked great and you need no more SD or CF cards because you clean them off every evening. Best of all it will play RAW files without the need of a secondary software or computer. I bought the 160GB unit.

Greg
