So it's time to upgrade Sue's camera rig...
I'd like some feedback from folks with similar rigs or issues.

The main criteria were: a high end compact digital with manual exposure and shutter speed control with a good lens in not too big of a housing.

We are looking hard at the Nikon P5000 in the Ikelite housing.
I have a Sea & Sea YS-110 strobe to kick-in which we were going to trigger with fiber optic. We can go with the sync cord trigger later but can't get ttl without bucking up for an Ikelite strobe.

Any thoughts or suggestions on this set-up?
How about fiber optic vs. sync cord (non-ttl, manual) ?

John

I would check with an Ikelite dealer if the Ike strobe will give you TTL, if it did I would sell the YS-110.

If not then the YS-110 is fine and use the controls on the strobe to vary the power. This is what we currently do with our YS-110s. We have the Sea&Sea TTL convertor on order so it will be interesting to see if it works!

The fibre optic link is good, but you use more camera power as the P5000 strobe will be needed to fire the YS-110. The only other drawback is the chance of reflections in the housing getting onto the picture.

see you next month
