I really like shells, I have a collection at home (found on the beach, never collected living shells) but I like them best alive. who can help me fill this online-BT-living shell-showcase?

I'll start with some easy finds:

some flamingo tongues:

and more

and again

Glen, nice footwear they have huh? if you want to see it, go on a night dive where there is plenty soft coral like margate bay. At night they are more active and you'll see it for sure.

also take a look at the underwater "dessert" (sand flats) at night, it comes alive:

olive shell:

atlantic sundial:

Gils, the olive shell is very stunning too! I can picture in my mind the conch shells I saw my last trip...sitting in the sand between the double reefs on the South end...lol! Sponge, you don't have any shells? I wonder if Brain has any...

Kelly, did you see that triton's trumpet on bonaire? rare find! I live here (and always look for shells) and only saw a living Triton a few times!
Hi bud, I still smile when i think of our wahoo, didn't see one since. Have to do that again. Hope to see you soon.
Bob do you do nightdives? most of the shells come out to play at night :-) and sometimes you almost need a magnifier.

very small!

Great pictures Bas and Kelly!!
Bas that's more than just shell pictures, that series is shell behaviour, fantastic shots! Those are nassarius shells and most of the time they are buried in the sand. they are scavengers and have a great sense of smell. when they smell food they come out of the sand and wave their long siphons to find the direction to the meal. you can see that perfectly in your pics!(especially in the first) maybe there are some shark food leftovers they try to find. they move rather fast don't they? did you see them there on other occasions?

Bas, poor starfish:-( Cool pics all.

Gills, thanks for the behavior info on the nassarius shells. I thought those long things were siphons, and looked at the pics for awhile thinking that they were LONG!

Gils, do you have a website with your pics?

Keep the pics coming:-)

Babs, I don't know. Both of the links Mare posted worked for me. Just posting so Mare knows that it works for some of us. Of course, my computer knowledge is very limited, so I have no idea why it is not working for you though. :-( Hope you get it.

Debbie, I think my computer is a SPAZ....I can't get it to show the pics from your trip report either, even though I have downloaded the most recent Quicktime program...
okay, I'll admit I may be the spaz for not figuring out how to fix all this....wah!

Where's Freddie? She's a wiz at these things! Babs, I am a spaz when the puter doesn't do what it's supposed to do as I never can fix it, always have to get hubby to do it. My fixing it always makes it worse. :-( and then I am banned from fixing for awhile...
